Simple, effective, well made wireless keyboard + trackpad
I needed a new wireless keyboard and after doing a bit of research and reading some reviews, this Rii K18 Wireless Keyboard came up. One of the key features that made me look at this one was the trackpad and the overall size. Overall the quality is good as there is no flex in the keyboard, they keys are rubberised but more than effective and with the additional lighting for use when the lights are out, this makes for a great cost effective keyboard. Also it is very thin, light and does not take up much space making it portable. The setup is simple and straight forward with the keyboard connecting instantly. It goes into a sleep mode when not being used which makes the battery last a long, long time between charges. The cable management is also great with the USB charging cable hidden away when not required. The best part is the trackpad which works very well and means I do not need a mouse especially with my secondary setup from the sofa for this keyboard. Overall I am very pleased and will update again on the longevity but for the moment it is a fantastic bit of kit that works very well for the intended use case and is priced very well.

Lovley for the price, but with some Design faults
Pros: -Great keys nice feel and bounce. -Slim and light weight. -Decent keyboard size it's roughly 32cm long end to end, and 12cm top to bottom. -LED lights are very bright and come in Red, Blue and Green -One button LED control to change colours. -LED stays on for a decent amount of time and comes back at the press of any buttom from sleep. -Extra Left Click Mouse button on the top left above the escape key. ( this is very handy and makes the keytboard 4 stars and not 2 for me). -Battery is decent -Comes with a build in usb cable so you can charge easily. Cons: The Only con for me is the touch pads Keys. The left click key which only seems to work if you double tap it and not always then as some times it selects the tesx on a page instead of the scrolling option. (Why I use the extra phisical left mouse key above the escape key) I dont think this is a physical fault in the keyboard but rather a design fault. The right click key work fine. Following on from this the two touchpad buttons are touch and not proper keys which feels wrong.

A great quality keyboard and worth every penny
I love Rii products and especially there keyboards I’ve got loads of them around the house mini ones Bluetooth ones full size wired ones wireless ones i love them and this is my favourite so far it is a bit more expensive than other products of the same thing but it’s definitely worth every penny in fact i like it that much I’ve got 2 of them now its easy to set up on windows and android and anything with a USB port to be honest it feels and looks great quality its easy to use and set up and it has all the buttons you need to control you device with ease the back light looks great to and is perfect for night time use the battery seem to last well even with heavy use and also can be used during charging to with the extension cable provided with the keyboard fast dispatch and delivery too with prime it has a good weight to it to so it feels made to last and feels like a quality item as usual from Rii i highly recommend this keyboard it’s definitely worth buying trust me you wont regret it

Light and responsive
Slightly smaller than a standard full-size keyboard - the Q and the P are about 1cm closer together. So typing on this doesn't feel that different. Construction is plastic, but seems reasonably high quality. It's light, but not so light that it feels flimsy. The top has a grooved effect giving it the appearance of metal. It's barely visible unless you look for it, but it adds a certain degree of style that plain black plastic would lack. Add in the glossy strip at the top and the backlit keys and you have a device that would not look out of place under a £1000 TV. I also like the easy-clean design of the keyboard - the keys are flat and there are no gaps, so any dust can easily be wiped off. Usage-wise, I'm quite impressed by how responsive it is, both the keyboard and the decent sized trackpad. The keys deliver sufficient feedback to feel confident typing quickly, and the pre-programmed function keys are a bonus. A charging stand would be a nice addition - as it it, I've re-purposed an old phone desk stand to hold it when not in use. Displayed like this, with the backlight on, it definitely gets noticed and commented on by visiting friends! So in summary - it gets my vote - highly recommended!

Good if you need it back-lit, otherwise not!
UPDATE - mousepad stopped working after a few months, sent back, wont be getting another one. Original review - All of my TV's have a little PC behind them, so I use wireless keyboards with the all, my no.1 choice being the Logi K400+, they do the job perfectly. However, it's difficult to type in the dark, so I went for this Rii, first impression are very good & the typing experience is accurate, with no odd key placement. The illumination is excellent & the colour choices are good, green for bright & red is better for a softer look. There are problems though, the most annoying, is no left or right click keys with the mousepad area, you have to tap the pad & this isn't always accurate, there is a left click top left, as with the K400+, but if you're using the keyboard one handed, holding the keyboard, scrolling & clicking (this is how you tend to do it when watching TV) then this is unusable. Then volume up/ down, a very common thing to do requires a 2 key command, so can't be done one handed again. Then the illumination is also a bit off, if you're not above, looking down at the lighted keys, you can see all of the bulbs underneath, this ruins the experience & they're very bright. Finally, even with a full charge & the lights going off when you haven't toughed them for a few seconds, the battery went flat after 2-3 evenings & you have to plug it in. With rechargeable batteries, my K400 goes for 2-3 months, so batteries may have been better. It is a good price & I would recommend the keyboard for it's illumination, but if you don't need the lights, get a K400+.

Almost perfect.
Having my PC linked to my living room TV I wanted a replacement for the wireless keyboard and mouse and chose this as it neatly combined everything in one neat nifty package. While never intended to replace the gaming keyboard and mouse which I still use this is great for general use like watching YouTube and writing this review from the comfort of my sofa. The back light is bright enough making typing in the dark easy, the touch pad is responsive and I like the second left click button on the top left corner which is probably better placed when I compare it to my laptop. It also goes into hibernation mode if left so battery life is conserved. My only issues are if I type to fast, quick double taps for example don't register the majority of the time but it's not been anything that would put me off buying again. The battery life isn't great either but then It does see heavy use and two charges a week isn't excessive considering how much it's used.

Slow recharging, no Fn lock, almost worth its cost.
Great little product with lots of obvious positives, here's a few things I noticed as minor gripes.. Recharging. It's sloooow. Like 10+ hours slow. Uses USB to charge at 5v 300mA, unsure of built in battery capacity. I use rechargeable batteries in everything and feel it could have a replaceable battery compartment for 2 AAA batteries instead, which would be cheaper to produce and definitely would allow for far longer usage times. No 'function lock'.. I use this as a multimedia keyboard and as such, use it's volume controls and mute (F2 to F4) quite a lot. A regular laptop has a function lock option so you don't have to also press the Fn button each time to access the dual function of the F keys... I greatly miss function lock on this little keyboard. It means I have to use 2 hands to turn volume down instead of 1 finger pressing 1 button. Other than that, it's generally very useful and handy. I haven't experienced delay or the need to type slower because of missed letter as others have said. They probably are pushing it to max distance from the dongle, I'm generally about a meter away and it's perfectly responsive. Overall it's probably a tiny bit overpriced but close to being worth the cost. I am mostly happy with it.

Frustrating
No drivers for Win10; appalling battery life; sluggish. Have had this keyboard about a week now and the frustration has mounted to the point where I have returned to my previous Logitech KB. There are no drivers (for any OS on any platform) for this device; it's sluggish, there is no pointer acceleration, so moving around the screen can be a slow and annoying affair, but worse when trying to scroll down a long web page, both things would be easily rectified by drivers; zoom function doesn’t work at all – again DRIVERS. The battery lasts a couple of days before (again) the touchpad has issues and stops responding... the low battery light clearly doesn't have enough juice to work (d'oh!); charging with the ridiculously short (even with included extension) cable is too frequent. Finally, the touchpad doesn't have physical buttons on it, favouring the ‘buttons’ being integrated with the touchpad itself, although there is a physical left-mouse button on the top left of the keyboard. The problem with this, is that dragging and dropping single-handedly is literally impossible; and I have found myself having to retrain my brain that right-clicking doesn’t ‘click’ on the this touchpad. This keyboard has some glaring problems, which is a shame as it looks and feels really nice to use (when battery is at full power), it just strikes me as all style with little substance. On the upside, it’s a good weight, and is handy in a darker room (the reason I wanted a backlit KB), but alas the cons far outweigh the pros and I will be sending this to Silicon Heaven (where all the little calculators go when they die).
