CRAFTSMAN Nail Set, 3-Piece Set (CMHT82541)

I was a little hesitant to go with these fancy looking nailsets. I have had my old craftsman all steel nailset for over thirty years and it is by far my go to nail set for finishing nails. Perfect size, weight and design. I bought these because they were on sale and never really expected to like the huge change but I do. Its easier to find in my pouch and easier to hold on to. Zero bounce back and the perfect length. I have to commend the engineers that came up with this style. Since they have arrived i have not used my old craftsman set. I sort of feel a bit guilty but not enough to go back. Its not often that you find a tool today that is equal to the quality made in USA back in the day but these are very nice and i have not hesitated to recommend them on the job. Good job Craftsman, looks like you are getting better and better as time goes on.

We replaced window casings and had multiple small finish nails to set.  I considered making a nail set tool from old screwdrivers. However, happy to learn that this tool kit was what we needed. Choose among Three sizes: 1/32, 2/32, 3/32; the 2/32" worked perfectly for us. Soon... wife was happily setting all our finish nails into the casings.

I will try to be as honest as possible because I depend on other people's reviews and feel I want to help the best I can: Item arrived as described. They work exactly as promised and hoped for. They are wrapped / covered with a rubber to allow a easy way to grip them tightly. Also the rubber flares near the head to help protect your fingers/hand while striking it with your hammer. As I get older and my fingers are less nimble, I'm always looking for ways to make it easier to continue to do good carpentry work in my shop. These are great for that. I still have my 40 year old set that are all metal with the fat square heads. In fact I prefer to use them for the heavy duty hard rougher work, and save these nicer new ones for finer and precision work. I Recommend. Good Luck.

Of course I knew that before purchase but just want to be sure that others understand what they are purchasing. A center punch has a sharp tip (typically at 60 degree chamber so with a blow of a hammer one can make a divet for a drill so that it wont wonder when starting to drill, these are great but they are nail sets for driving finishing nail to or slightly below the surface of wood so that they can perhaps be covered with putty or just to keep them below the surface so nothing snags on them. I like the shape/design, very easy to handle, I cannot speak to the wear or long term hardness and durability since I only recently purchased them, but I am hoping for a lifetime of use. Unfortunately Craftsman is not the brand our fathers grew up with so I am somewhat hesitant to give them my stamp of approval so soon. So far they have performed as one would expect and I will continue to use these as my go-to set until I have some reason to think they aren't performing as expected.

I bought these about a week ago to beat some nails out of a few pallet board and they seem strong and durable. They work just as intended and were a priced fairly. Definitely recommended.

It actually works! We had a bunch of nails and staples on our trim that was left by the contractors and this worked to hammered it in. All thought the staples were a bit more tricky to do...you gotta be a bit for precise.

Was just appropriate for the job and functioned as expected.
