Very Large 2.2 pound Bag of Japanese Genmaicha Green Tea, good until 2029
Wow, 2.2 pounds of Japanese Genmaicha Green Tea is a LOT, - so I'm going to have to get a Glass Jar with an Air Tight, Sealable Top to keep it Fresh. If anyone does not know yet, - the Japanese in Japan CHANGED from Drinking Green Tea, to Drinking Coffee. It's been going on for so long that Nobody even still have the Tea Brewing Equipment anymore. And even if they did, - most people forgot how to do it. It's so Wide Spread, - that the Japanese Tea Farmers are going BANKRUPT, - unable to Sell their Tea Leaf Harvests. The Biggest Commercial Customer is Ito En, - but they only buy the CHEAPEST Harvest Tea Leafs, -,at the End of the Year. And the Bottled Ito En Green Tea says it's "Made in TAIWAN". Only the Green Tea in Plastic Bottles sold in Vending Machines are still available in Japan, - and those are Cheap and Very Low Quality Green Tea. Almost nobody is buying the High End Top Quality Japanese Springtime, First Harvest Tea Leafs, - which are the Best and Most Expensive, - so Farmers are going Broke. Tea Farms are being Abandoned, PLOWED UNDER, - and Replaced by High Rise Real Estate Apartment Buildings. It takes 5 to 8 years for a Tea Plant to grow big enough for Commercial Harvest, - so it's very unlikely anyone will be starting New Tea Farms in Japan, ever. THAT is why I decided to buy this 2.2 pound size Genmaicha Tea, - knowing it's going to last me a very long time, like several years. Green Tea (and Matcha) only lasts about 3 to 5 years, - and then they go Stale, losing their Taste and Flavor. It's too bad Japanese Green Tea has become an ENDANGERED SPECIES. Japanese Green Tea is STEAMED, not PAN FRIED, like Chinese Tea, - so I'm afraid there is no substitute for it. Plus, most of the Japanese Tea is Processed via Computerized Digially Controlled Machines, - so the results are pretty much Always 99% Perfect. Not to say Chinese Teas are not Good, - but because they are Manually HAND Processed, - it's just not possible to ALWAYS get the SAME RESULT. And Chinese Teas are PAN FRIED, not STEAMED, - so the Taste is completely different. Finally, it's impossible for Tea grown in Japan to be the SAME as what's Grown in China, - due to different Soil, Temperatures, Rain, Humidity, and Growing Conditions being Different. It's just not possible for them to be Interchangeable, - and they are NOT. The Bag I got is Stamped April 27, 2029, - so I've got about not quite 4 years to finish drinking this. Too bad it's not Puerh Tea, - which just gets Better with Old Age, - due to Fermentation. All other Teas are Oxydized, - so they just go BAD with Age. That's why I'm not buying any more Japanese Green Tea, - since this Bag will last to 2029, - before I can start drinking any more Japanese Green Tea again. I am very pleased with the Price I paid, - for this Japanese Genmaicha Green Tea, - which I got on the 2025 BLACK FRIDAY SALE. This Japanese Genmaicha Green Tea has lots of Toasted Brown Rice, - which is what gives it most of it's Great Taste and Flavor. I really like it, - so if you're looking for a Big Bag of Japanese Genmaicha Green Tea, - then Grab One Too, before they Run Out. -------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------

Love this genmaicha tea.
I love this green tea (genmaicha) with toasted brown rice. It’s smooth and has a mild smoky flavor. Perfect with a little bit of honey to start the day. Also great value as it comes in a two pound vacuum sealed pouch that stays fresh for storage. It’s a staple in my house. ☕️ Update September 2020- Ordered another block of tea because I loved it so much. This arrived with a slice in the side of the bag and had spilled inside the shipping envelope. Tried to replace it, but is ineligible for return. I love the tea, but use caution when ordering.

My go-to for Gennmaicha!
This has been my go-to for Gennmaicha since finding it here on Amazon a few years ago. I keep it in a air sealed container, and it tastes as good as when I first opened it. Will buy again!

This is the best Genmaicha I’ve found.
I’ve tried quite a few Genmaicha teas, from all price ranges, and this is my go-to tea. The rice is cooked to perfection as seen in the color and there’s quite a lot of it. The addition of Matcha to already high quality tea leaves makes this the best I’ve ever had. The aroma when brewing shows the freshness of the product. I highly recommend.

If you enjoy drinking flavorless dust - this is your tea.
So....I've been a green tea drinker for many years. I love almost all green tea - from super-strong gunpowder, to delicate ceremonial matcha and everything in between. One of my favorites is Ito En - I just get bummed on how much waste is involved with the non-recyclable individual plastic packets and non-compostable nylon bags. I prefer buying bulk if possible, to reduce waste (and cost). This tea - I can't even call it tea. It's basically a bag full of burnt rice with some matcha dust and a few tea leaves. Quite possibly the worst green tea I have ever had. I wish I could give it zero stars. All I can say for it is that it didn't make me sick. That's the best I have to say for it. Other than that, it was flavorless garbage. The bit of flavor it did have, was old and musty. The few bits of tea leaves in the bag clearly were not cured properly. Run, don't walk away from this tea. Oh - and even better, you can't return it!

This is amazing for the price!!!! May take some time to figure out proper brewing procedures!
This is amazing for the price. I still haven't perfected the brewing though - how much tea to how much water and how hot and how long to brew!!!!! seems like you have to use water about a minute off of boiling (boil water, then let it cool down for 60 seconds before pouring over tea leaves). I don't know, I also live at a high altitude so water boils at a lower temperature. I found out about this tea from a local Japanese restaurant that uses it - it is absolutely delicious there! It has that strong toasted rice flavour - much better than I've been able to make it at home. You get 2.2 pounds for $17 something - an very low price for authentic Genmai Cha. They also add matcha (powdered tea) to the leaves and rice - which may be traditional - I've not seen it done in any other brand of Genmai Cha. The matcha which is very fine continues to brew in the pot and your cup even after you've removed the leaves and toasted rice. All in all, I think this is a great deal. Please let me know if you figure out proper brewing procedures.

Japanese green tea
This tea has the most delicious flavor. I first had it in a restaurant with my Asian meal and I fell in love with it and had to have more to make at home. So I was able to order it on Amazon and now I can enjoy it at home anytime that I want; the flavor is so smooth and so tasty. It is different than any tea I’ve ever had before.

Good value but not the best tea
This tea is a great value, and has a decent flavor. However the #1 ingredient is rice, so the green tea flavor is a bit weak for my tastes.
