They work, no more ridges!
No more unsightly ridges! I have had ridges on some of my nails for a little over a year. I stopped getting manicures because they make all nail polish look terrible. I tried these blocks and used all the steps, and the ridges are gone! My nails are smooth again! I can’t wait to get a manicure.

Amazing shiny block
I had used this every time after trimming my nails or needs a shine and it's a life saver. It makes the edges of my nails so round and smooth and the shining makes my nails look so clean.

Natural Nails Look Polished After 1 Use
I’m 63 yrs old. I take Andrew Lessman Healthy Hair, Skin. & Nails supplement, as well as additional Biotin, daily. My natural nails are getting stronger; but, still have still snap easily when I’m growing them longer, have noticeable ridges, & are dull. I purchased CND SolarOil to nourish my nails. But, before I began using it, I purchased & tried this nail block. Step 1, File: The file section works well as a finish. But, if you’re looking to file your nails shorter, use an emery board. Then finish the edges with the file section. This was why I deducted 1 star. Step 2, Remove Ridges: This definitely filed down my ridges. Step 3, Buff: The buffing section worked nicely to finish smoothing my nails after removing the ridges. Step 4, Polish & Shine: I honestly didn’t expect much from this section. Well, was I wrong. After using this section, my nails look like I have a shiny coat of clear nail polish on my nails rather than just my natural nails. I am hoping this 4 sided nail block holds up because I will be able to leave my nails natural, apply my nail oil, & hopefully have stronger nails w/o using nail polish while letting them grow. I posted a photo of my natural nails after using this with no nail oil or polish on to show you the beautiful shine this block gives you. They actually look shinier in person. I’ll update when the block begins to deteriorate so you’ll know how long it lasts. I had to rate durability which I really don’t know yet. I gave that 5 stars for now. I highly recommend this as an excellent finishing tool. Just get an emery board for stronger filing.

Fun colors
These are cute colors and fun to use but they don’t feel as durable as what I was looking for. They work well but glad there are 3 so not a bad value.

Literally horrible.. NO NO NO
I’ve used MANY 4-side blocks in my life to take care of my nails, and this one has to be the worst one yet. First of all, the block is super soft and flimsy, it literally bends and indents as you grip it. The layer of material that does the sanding/polish action is beyond paper thin, any area on any side looses abrasiveness and stops working after a few seconds on contact with the nail. The end result, the nail isn’t even shiny! It will be smooth at best. If that’s your look, this is perfect for you. Another CON about this block is that is has literally 4 levels.. the first level is a very very fine grit sandpaper, I have been using it to file my nails down here and there as to get some of my moneys worth out of this garbage, but regardless, it’s tooootttallly NOT OK to use that to smooth “ridges” from your nail bed!! It takes way too much nail off. When I finished with this block, my nail had a barely there, dull luster and it was almost translucent from being buffed so thin. Ladies, I skimped because I wanted to be cheap but just stick with a good brand that worked for you in the past. The last brand I used that worked good on Amazon was from “Avila/Avita”, can’t remember the name exactly, but it was a lot more expensive. It has the traditional 3 levels - 1 side buff, 2 sides to smooth/polish, 1 side to shine. That block makes people think my natural nails are French tips!!! This one doesn’t!!!!

Free shipping YEA!
It looks like there might be some reviews from first-time nail buffer users, or people who maybe aren't sure what the best uses for this would be. This product works just like you think it will, if you regularly buff your fingernails/toenails. This is not as "industrial strength" as the block your manicurist will have in the salon, but you don't want that anyway. I estimate that it is in the middle range of home-use buffers for grit strength (think sandpaper if you don't know what I mean here) which should be good for beginners, but I also use it, and I have been doing my own full manicures for 25 years, since I went to cosmetology school. This is a good price when I compare it to the quality and price that I can find in either regular retail stores or professional beauty supply stores. The free shipping is not slow boat to China by any means either. I got mine faster than I was supposed to, just like another reviewer. To the woman who can't get her toenails smooth, you need a professional file first, then to follow these directions. Pro files are usually black, large, and quite inexpensive. This one is .69 on Amazon for example: http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Nail-File-Black-Model/dp/B003M2L19C/ref=sr_1_41?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1369245513&sr=1-41&keywords=nail+file Slowly and CAREFULLY use whichever side of the file doesn't scare you :) to buff the surface of your toenails. You will see that you can remove a serious amount of nail this way because you're using a file, so be careful! Try to use smooth, even strokes. This will save you time later. Then, when your toenail is rough from the file, but evenly rough and NOT ridgy, then use a block file like the one in this listing. Start with the roughest side, the one that masquerades as a nail file (I wouldn't use it to file with though; use a pro file instead). Use quick back and forth strokes all over the nail. The smoother the grit on the buffer (like sides 2-4 on this buffer) the less you need to pay attention or even look what you're doing. Use the file, and then 3 sides of the buffer, then go watch tv and use the 4th, shine side. If by 2 minutes into the show your toenails aren't shiny and gorgeous, call me, I'll be right over. Update: SHIPPING - No longer free shipping (March of '13), but the price actually ends up being 2 cents less. I paid $4 with free shipping in Dec of '12; now it is $2.99 + $.99 = $3.98. CUSTOMER IMAGE - It's harder than I thought to get a good picture of the shine coming off a fingernail, but I did my best. See above :)
