So far it works very well for regular pencils. It's quick and sharpens to a fine point. I've learned to gently and slowly twist the pencil back and forth as it sharpens to sharpen evenly. I haven't yet tried the other two settings for the blunter points of various art pencils. I hope it lasts. I've had it only a few weeks. Update: It still works wonderfully, on battery or plugged in. It's the best electric sharpener I've ever had. I don't use it daily, so I don't know how well it holds up for someone who sharpens many art pencils or school pencils on a daily basis. If I'm doing pencil art I will sharpen many times a day for several weeks, and then maybe only sharpen once or twice a month for a while, and then back to pencil art again, depending. It has held up close to 4 years for me.

Fast and makes a very sharp point for my coloured pencils. But it is definately not quiet. That's the reason I didn't give it 5 starts

I bought this pencil sharpener for my colored pencils based on the reviews. I only used it several times and then due to my busy schedule couldn't use my pencils for at least 6 months. When I went to use the sharpener again it wouldn't work at all! VERY DISAPPOINTED as it was stored in an area that was safe and there was nothing done to it for it to just quit working.

Best pencil sharpener ever. I use it for all my expensive drawing pencils. It removes only what is necessary to get an extremely sharp point.

I've recently gotten into adult coloring (it's fun, don't judge) so I wanted to try using colored pencils and learn how to do shading, blending, etc. but I seriously do not have any pencil sharpeners in my house. I ended up using one of my eyeliner pencil sharpeners but that is really frustrating since the sharpener isn't made to sharpen colored pencils. I decided to purchase an electric one since they're a lot easier than manual sharpeners and this particular sharpener caught my eye because it had three settings for different tips. Plus, the color is actually pretty cute (I got pink). I really like that this sharpener is powered via an AC Adapter that plugs into a wall rather than by battery (although that option is available). I hate having to buy batteries for remotes and such, plus the devices that use batteries lose power very quickly. Unfortunately, the cable on this sharpener is really short. I usually end up plugging it into my laptop instead of dealing with sitting near an outlet. I really like that the plug has a USB end so I have that ability, rather than just going straight into a plug. It's a lot more convenient and easy to use. The sharpener itself sharpens my colored pencils really quickly and doesn't leave any jagged edges or anything on the pencil. The portion about this sharpener that I don't like is that it only makes the pencils really sharp, not blunt or whatever the middle length is called. I tried to get the pencils these lengths multiple times but they always came out sharp. Bottom line - as a general pencil sharpener, this product is great. It's powered via AC Adapter, sharpens quickly, and doesn't leave any rough edges. If you're looking for a sharpener that offers more than one level of sharpness, this sharpener is not what you're looking for. I don't write a lot of reviews. However, this pencil sharpener just doesn't work well at all. I have had it for a year, but don't use it but once a month, and it's already broken and not sharpening pencils. I have only sharpened regular pencils, nothing else, no colored pencils, or anything. It just won't sharpen anything and the disappointing factor is the price I paid for this.

Great Sharpener but will not sharpen wide pensils but great for standard and colored pencils. Easy to empty shavings without dumping. Best we've owned...

I received this item at a discount in exchange for my unbiased review. First thing I noticed is that the "red" is way more of a "fuchsia" color (see my photo in front of a red box). It's not that big of a deal, but I am not a big fan of pink so it was off-putting for me. Now for function. This thing works! Maybe a little too well, actually. The first pencil I sharpened I wound up sharpening too long and ate away more of the pencil than I would have liked. That was user error on my part though. I tried it on the sharp and blunt settings and found very little difference between the two, but I could see a tiny bit more bluntness at the bluntest setting. Overall it works very well and was pretty quiet for a pencil sharpener.
