Diamond Eyes works the way good records used to; each song carries you a little further away from your crappy day until finally, you've been transported to a place that feels a whole lot better than where you started. There's also a newfound sense of purpose that makes Deftones' sixth album stand out. The band recorded the album after their best friend and bassist Chi Cheng sustained a debilitating brain injury from a car accident in November of 2008. The tangle of Stephen Carpenter's woozy, undulating guitar work and Moreno's soaring then secretive vocal style is the bittersweet dynamic behind each of Deftones' records, including Diamond Eyes. The friction drives the music as much as it does the players, though it doesn't always make life easy for childhood friends Carpenter and Moreno. "What makes us work?" asks Carpenter. "Chino will give you the exact opposite answer that I do. That's the way it is with us-we contradict each other constantly but it's also what makes our music what it is-intense and different. Beautiful Case, daughter loves it
Bought this for my 12 year old daughter who loves it. No scratches on the CD. sounds great, she loves the songs, mom not so much but that's ok. Mom won't be listening to it too much, although I do let her play it in my car, occasionally.

Este vinil lo tenía en mi wishlist desde hace algún tiempo pero nunca estaba disponible. Cuando lo vi disponible y a menos de 500 pesos pensé que sería una reimpresión o versión standard. Cuando llego noté que la caja venía un poco doblada pero cuando vi que era la versión especial blanca, el daño de la caja no me importó. A mi gusto el segundo mejor álbum de Deftones. Una vez que lo veas disponible tienes que comprarlo. 10 de 10

...dürfte wohl niemanden mehr überraschen,dass das Album schon vor Veröffentlichung in Umlauf ist.. eigentlich traurig!..aber naja,so hat ich jedenfalls schon die Möglichkeit,'Diamond Eyes' komplett zu hören.Versteht sich natürlich von selbst,dass ich mir das Original trotzdem kaufe!..hoffe ihr macht dasselbe,denn 'D E' ist für mich perönlich das beste Album seit 'White Pony'!..ich mag auf jeden Fall alle Alben,aber so euphorisch wie 'D E' hab ich die letzten beiden nicht wirklich aufgenommen.. Das Album hat irgendwie ne ganz eigene Stimmung... echt schwer zu beschreiben.Einige Sachen hat man auch so von Deftones noch nicht gehört.. Fängt schon mit dem Chorus vom Titel-Track an.. ich hab schon einige Kommentare gelesen,von wegen:zu "radio" und so,und ja kann sein,dass es ne breitere Masse ansprechen könnte,aber das gilt auch echt nur für den Chorus,..allein durch den Gitarrensound wird der Song auf jeden Fall kein "Radio-Hit".Mir gefällt er jedenfalls!(auch der Chorus).ich hät ehrlich gesagt auch kein Bock Deftones zwischen Lady Gaga und Ich&Ich zu hören.. ..was sonst noch?.ja,ich find,Chino's Vocals stechen mehr hervor als auf den andern Scheiben.. klingen einfach melodischer.'Sextape' ist hierfür wohl das beste Beispiel..sehr chillig,sehr schön-wie das Cover.Aber natürlich wird's auch ruff!..momentan ist 'Prince' mein Favorit,aber ich find auch jedes Mal wieder was anderes.. 'Royal' zum Beispiel,beginnt cool,aber erstmal nicht sonderlich spektakulär,und dann ab 2:50min oder so kommt der Vorschlaghammer!..auf meinem Gesicht breitet sich bei der Stelle jedes Mal 'n fettes Grinsen aus .. das letzte Mal hat ich bei 'Knife Party' ähnliche Gefühlsausbrüche.Gänsehaut!.. ok,ich will jetzt auch nicht jeden Track auseinander nehmen.. Das ganze Album ist meiner Meinung nach einfach komplett gelungen und funktioniert insgesamt!..was ich schreibe,kann dem eh nicht gerecht werden,was in mir vorgeht,wenn ich Deftones hör.. egal,ich mach's trotzdem.Euphorie muss man teilen!..Cheers!
