Can the ceramic dish be used on the job to brown first or will food require separate browsing before adding to the pot?

I haven’t tried it myself but I would’ve thought direct heat to the crock (other than in the outer) would have cracked it. The slow heat of the unit isn’t sufficient to brown meat or veg I always brown in a separate pan first

Is the colour cream like it says or is it more yellow? My daughter got the pots and pans set and they are definitely yellow, not cream like it said.

I think the colour is an antique cream which to me looks nicotine stain colour, I have the grey pot and luckily the inner dish is a light nice cream.

Can you cook chicken breasts

You can cook anything in a slow cooker but it is never crispy and doesn’t brown. This particular model is very small and wouldn’t take more than one or two small chicken breasts.
