Fantastic! Easy and safe clips!
I got these for riding in NYC where being clipped in could cause some problems and I love them. They're really easy to install and after reading the reviews about them falling off I just put some blue loctite on the bolts and they've held up just fine. These don't take much getting used to and they definitely do give you some power from the upstroke, working more of your legs, increasing speed and keeping your feet in the right spot, especially on hills. I'd recommend these to beginners for sure as they're so easy to get in and out of and let you get used to the "clipped in" experience before having to go through the big learning curve. Perfect for city riding and commuting with work shoes!

A First-rate product !
A Very solidly-built toe clip; nicely curved in front to receive the toe of my shoe and even prevents unwanted side to side movement. Performs well and very light, so my pedals are very easy to flip up and my shoe toe slides right into the clip . Easy to install, depending on your pedal design. Comes with screws and nuts, but I added split lock washers for extra security. The Extremely brief instructions do not say what the flat metal plates in the parts bag are for or where they should be installed. Those may be intended as a backing plate for the nuts, but the plates are too large and would not fit on the inside surface of my pedals, so I had to discard them. Instead I would have added a steel flat washer, but the screws are not long enough to accommodate that or the metal plates. Despite these minor shortcomings, I highly recommend these toe clips as excellent value for the price .

I’m a naturally clumsy person and just not comfortable with anything you have to actively disengage with yet so I thought I’d give these a try. The material is sturdy and I’m not worried with brakeage. The metal bracket that came with these wouldn’t fit my bike so I had to leave it off. The only downside was that they immediately started loosen up and I ended up losing a screw on my 2nd ride with these. I had expected they would loosen overtime and planned to reinforce them with locktite, but I wanted to give them a test run first. I bought new hardware and have reattached them both now with Locktite. Although these won’t give you any significant pull up power, they do give you a slight edge that I really like. They also prevent your feet from slipping if you are climbing a hill and drop your gears too fast, causing your bike to jerk. I ride my bike to commute and recreationally and I like that this will give me more footwear options when commuting because there’s less concern about the bottoms being slick. It does take a minute to get the hang of it. The weight causes the pedal to flip toward so I’ve found it’s best to slip one toe in, and then the other once you’ve got some forward momentum and can pause from pedaling for a moment. Sometimes I just start with the flat pedal on both feet and then slip in. I think I’ll get better at it as I use them more. They’re small enough that you can still flat pedal and clear the ground on my bike, but they might hit if taking a turn. Sizing info: I wear a women’s 11, which is generally equivalent to a men’s 9. Based on the other reviewer pictures less than a 9 is a smaller and greater than a 9 is a large. I wasn’t sure which to chose so I went with the small and I was the right choice, my toe fits snuggly in it with athletic shoes on, and I even did a quick ride in my chacos with no issue. Overall 4.5 stars, if you don’t want to put the lock tight on right away, carry a screw driver with you and check to make sure the screws are still tight before every ride.

Ideal for city riding
Exactly what I needed. They position my foot easily and I can take off confidently. And also position the pedal for the startup stroke. Recently (after I quit with the clip-in lollipop pedals I've used 20 years) I've been through all the choices: flat, old-schoolntoe straps and finally these. They are the clear winner. Minimal power assist, but so much safer.

The best compromise for the not-so-hardcore cyclist
I didn't want to do clipless because I didn't want to walk around in cycling shoes, and, frankly, I don't really like them that much for riding in the city. I also didn't like platforms because my foot would slide out of position, it was easy to slip off in the rain going up hill sometimes, and well I kind of like feeling connected to the bike. I ride in tennis shoes or casual shoes most of the time for about 12 miles. These keep your feet where they're supposed to be, and provide a greater degree of confidence especially in wet conditions, but really even in dry conditions. As for whether they'll make you faster. Well, ya, they give you some ability to pull up on the pedals which you have no ability to do with platforms. This is great especially when you're tired and you want to "switch muscle groups" or want to focus on pulling up for whatever reason. I commute so my times from point A to B are erratic enough that I can't tell you if they made me faster. I can tell you that I don't like riding without them and that I do personally notice a difference with and without. They are definitely a better option than straps in my opinion and they're very easy to kick out of if you need to. There's a bit of a learning curve to be able to quickly flip your platform pedal over to get your foot back in these, but worst case, you pedal on the platform for a while until traffic goes by and then you have time to look and flip the pedal over. Anyhow, if you're like me and you want something to secure your foot but you don't really care about being a "hardcore cyclist" with ultimate efficiency, then well - this is your best bet.

adequate but not the best I've had
I'm an experienced rider and recently added these clips to my road bike. I ride at least 12 miles every day of the week, sometimes as much as 25 miles... at strenuous cadences to improve my cardiovascular performance. I knew the Zefal material would be durable and relatively light even compared to the chrome-plated steel and leather-strapped ones I had nearly 20 years ago. Maybe it's the pedals on my bike (they are NOT clip-in pedals) but when I go to put my foot in them, I'm used to flipping the pedal up with my toe and sliding into the clip, one foot at a time. With these however, it seems that the weight is too far forward and my toes tend to get caught on the pedal as I try to slip into the clip. They've scraped the ground a couple of times when I've had only one foot in place and they do get marked but the damage certainly is not functionally problematic.

These got me back riding my bike again!
My bicycling situation may not be like yours, but as a result of a stroke almost 6 years ago I have been unable and hesitant to get back on my bicycle. A huge part of the problem, is keeping my right foot properly positioned on the pedal. Because of the disability, my foot tends to angle out and move forward on the pedal. The limited movement that I have in my foot and ankle, precludes the use of a clipless pedal, and regular tow straps lock my foot in too much and limit my ability to get it out and on the ground in a hurry. I tried these Zefal toe clips about a year ago and they have been a game changer! I'm now able to ride with more confidence and in less pain because these keep my foot positioned exactly where I need it and allow me easy and immediate release when the need arises. The only issue I have had in the past was when I was ordering these. There seems to be a common issue with determining the proper size since they are offered in two different sizes. After much research and reading a lot of reviews I determined I should have a small to a medium for a size 9½ shoe. When I received them and installed them I could tell they were way too small. I returned those and picked up a large-extra large and they are perfect for a size 9 and larger shoe. The photos are of a size 10 cycling shoe and the extra large toe clip. You should be able to see from the underside of the shoe that the predetermined location of where a clipless pedal could be attached, that it aligns almost perfectly with the center of the pedal. For me this works out perfect. The installation of these could not be simpler or easier. I have put many miles on these and have never had an issue. They appear to be well built and should last for years, and for $10 I could not have made a better choice.

size differences
make sure the size is correct, I purchased and didn't try to install until after the return date was passed, and found out they did not fit my pedals

Downgraded my Daily Commuter
I downgraded from clips to these on my daily commuter; clips were overkill IMHO and limits the shoes that one can use. L-XL fit perfectly for my size 10 foot. Quality product from a recognized name in bike accessories. All required hardware supplied, although I may upgrade to lock nuts at some point. Installation requires a slotted screwdriver and 8mm wrench and can be performed by pretty much anyone; just be sure to tighten them up with tools so that they don't fall off while you are riding!
