Where is this made/manufactured?

I just looked at the assembly instructions. It doesn't note where it was made.

Does it cost-effective?

In my opinion, no it was not cost effective. A few minutes after placing my 3 guitars on the stand the rivets in the three legs came apart and the stand went flat on the grid and w unstable after that.

Will this work for a full sized cello?

I don't believe so. It doesn't even hold regular acoustic guitars without their hitting each other.
