Weston 1119 Vacuum Sealer, 8" x 50', Clear

I just purchased these bags. Only had to wait 2 days for them to arrive. I am excited, surprised and relieved. The bags are made sturdy and have smaller diamond pattern. They vacuumed well, and sealed. That was important to me. I will wait to see how they hold up over time in the freezer and under reuse as the plastic is a little bit stiffer than the FoodSaver bags. For me I bought the vacuum sealer to save us grocery money in this economy. I am grateful to have found a vacuum bag that is equivalent to the Foodsaver bag (minus the little right on strip that I never used anyway)... for a reasonable price.Sugestion for anyone concerned with that. I use the label off the original packaging or a stick on label wrapped in a piece of clear plastic wrap placed INSIDE the bag before sealing. Does not rub off or peal off leaving you wondering.... what is this? when did I buy this?

As a long time Food Saver owner, I have looked for the best value for the bagging products. From the grocery store on sale to Costco, it has been a long quest. I read the Amazon reviews and settled on this product, buying both sizes. I am very pleased. Some reviews said the quality was not that good, but if you look closer, you will see that you can buy these bag rolls in regular and commercial grade. The commercial grade is heavier than the Food Saver brand rolls, and I find them to be very, very good. The other objection is that this over-size roll does not fit into the Food Saver. True. However, when you lift the Food Saver lid, there is a small gap. Just put the roll behind the Food Saver, thread through the small gap, and then you can seal the end and cut to the size you wish as you have always done. This bag roll will hang over the Food Saver controls, but I find that you can still see the controls well enough to operate. I use my Food Saver a lot with bulk purchases and my home smoker. I am writing this review as I went on line to buy more of this size roll. This time, I will purchase the double roll package to save even more money.

Maybe even better than the brand name. Good weight, great quality control, and not one seal has failed. Works flawlessly in my machine, bet it will in yours too. As noted in other reviews, the full roll won't fit in some machines, but it's less than a minute to peel off 15' or so and reroll same. Well worth your hard earned bucks!

I buy freezable perishables (meat, fish, cheese, certain veggies, etc.) in bulk at Costco then divide into usable portions (we're empty nesters), vacuum seal in my Foodsaver and freeze. So I'm constantly using bags. The original Foodsaver bags are very good but expensive. I have found these to perform equally well. They miss the graphics on the Foodsaver bags (cut lines, writing blocks) but I never really used them anyway. Writing the contents, weight and date on the bag with an indelible Sharpie works great. I also use these bags for freshly storage of dry products such as flour, sugar, etc.; for leftovers we place in the refrigerator but don't freeze; and for items I want to keep dry when outdoors. They are inexpensive enough to not feel guilty when using.

Sometimes it works in my FoodSaver (V3230), sometimes it does not. Maybe the bubble-like side that my FoodSaver can't handle. Very frustrating to mark a prepared bag, insert the food (chicken, steak, doesn't matter) and than the FoodSaver doesn't vacuum the package. Tried cutting a new edge on the bag, then having to toss the bag and start a new one since the vacuum doesn't work on the food. Even walnuts were a problem. I prepackage them and vacuum seal them from a larger bag (32 oz. from Sam's). So if the vacuum doesn't work, it's not a problem. When I try to do pork chops, chicken parts, or steak, it is a major problem. I would not recommend these bags for the FoodSaver. This roll is fine for non-vacuumed items, but I will not attempt to use them for anything else. The price is good for the roll, but I don't feel the product works for what I bought it for. FoodSaver rolls are expensive and I use an alternative that is smooth and that works for me.

For a fraction of the cost of the store brand stuff, this is the perfect solution if you freeze a lot of meats. The tubes are too big to fit into self contained vacuum sealers, but if you save an empty tube from a previous roll, then you can re-roll half of this one onto it and it fits with room to spare. The quality of the material is comparable to name brand, and the The FoodSaver V3440 Vacuum Sealer has no issues with it.Update 8.22.2016I ran out and had to get the store brand in a pinch. Holy cow it's infuriating having to spend so much for so little. I have reordered this brand 3 times now and will continue to do so in the future.

Wow I have to change my first review, which was fabulous. I could not understand people talking about these bags failing.... well..... now I know what people are talking about, I have an entire roll of this stuff and almost every bag I have made fails.... obviously there are some serious flaws in their manufacturing or who produces these for them.After this painful experience and losing lots of meat to freezer burn over the last several months, I do not think I will buy these again. It is not worth the cost of steaks gone bad and having to redo bag after bag I find in the freezer that has failed. I threw this roll out.. $15 down the drain (had it too long to return to Amazon) and had to go to the store to buy some bags to save my meat.

This vacuum seal roll works just as well as the Food Saver bags and are more economical for me. I can cut each bag size to my needs. The quality is there. The bags seal perfectly and hold their seal. I still have a few bags in the freezer that have been there for almost a year. The seal is still tight and the food looks great. Since these rolls are cheaper than the Food Saver bags I don't feel like I have to skimp on using it. Now I can take advantage of sales and don't have to feel like I'll spend all the money I save on good quality vacuum seal bags.
