Circuit Scribe Maker Kit: Conductive Rollerball Pen

Super cool ink didn't work at first but shaking the pen fixed it quick. The book it comes with doubles as both demos and a work book

I wanted to love this. The Ultra kit was sold out, so I actually spent a LOT on the super kit right before Christmas to see the price lower or get cut in half after Christmas. The price I paid for it was not worth it. The half price would be more worth it. At first, I was disappointed it did not come in the organized box it was supposed to, but a translucent plastic bag with a small hole in it. I thought maybe it was the wrong item, or a returned one, I tried counting the pieces by touch since you could not see through the bag. I ended up having to open it. So, I love the concept of the workbook because you have a finished project that is great to show for homeschoolers, but it is lacking. It asks questions but fails to provide the answers anywhere to see if you got them right. My son was very excited by this but quickly lost interest BECAUSE the pens dont write well. We thought we could go through and finish it in a couple hours but it takes nearly an hour to get the ink colored in well enough to work in one drawing. The pen seems to work well on newsprint and skin, but not the paper the book is printed on. It says to use a wet paper towel to wet the pen. We did but I ended up getting the jumper stickers wet, so I hope they still work. Diagram three....we couldn't get to work, because of the pen, but the same thing can be accomplished on number 2. We still dont know the answer or the reason behind the answer though. I feel like we got through some circuit training faster with copper tape. I may try to buy another brand of conductive pen to see if it works better. I read the other reviews and still decided to buy it cuz it looked cool and I was hoping I'd be one of the users to get a good pen. Overall, yes, i think i'd still buy it but ONLY on sale, now that I know the actual value of the item. But my overall review is that there is room for improvement, especially on the pen and content. The module pieces included seem to be very good quality. Very disappointed about not getting the box as well, especially when i paid almost 80 $ for mine!

Did not work at all. Appears as if the power module is defective since even connecting it directly to one of the LED modules (bypassing the use of any ink) did not cause the LEDs to light up. Tried swapping 9v battery for a new one and tried multiple modules in case the LED was defective, but the whole kit is dead in the water. Very disappointing to sit down with your child and try to start working through these only to be shut down cold by a defective product. Great idea, terrible execution.

Very fun and a clever way to teach circuits.

My 10 year old bought this for himself after learning about circuits at school. This is a great set. He has really enjoyed going through the workbook that comes with it and creating the circuits with all the various components. The only negative I would say, was that it was a bit of a shock (to both of us) how small this package is when it arrives. The images are very deceiving and for the price, we expected a much bigger package. Also, wish it had the motor component, which we'll have to buy separately.

Has great promise but a couple of the circuits don't work, which is frustrating for kids. When you factor the nonfunctioning components into the cost, it makes this kit expensive. I wouldn't recommend it. My husband in an EE so we definitely tested it for user error, they just didn't work.

I love this kit and what can I do in my class with him. It's educational for all the people that doesn't know how circuits and current works or also for people who have interest on electronics. Good job with this.

Great product & great invention! But the pen is not responsive & giving me the hard time! I have to draw the circuit twice and trice before it connects!

Was a gift for my 12 yr son. He really enjoys it. Everything works and is fun to watch him explore.
