I can’t get ladders to part of my guttering, due to a sloped tiled roof beneath it. I’m able to stand on the roof though, and using this scraper attached to a pole I could reach up and clear a lot of rubbish from the gutter, enough to make a big difference and allow the rainwater to flow away. The ability to alter the angle is very useful. For the pole, Wilko sell an extending decorating pole for £8 - it’s very sturdy, and has a push-fit adapter that unscrews so you can screw the scraper on. Altogether a cheap and effective solution to a tricky blocked gutter

Bought this to clear out the gutters are they are full of moss. The good points: 1. It fits round gutters 2. It does clear the moss out 3. Lightweight The bad points: 1. Not very easy to operate 2. Doesn't stand up to pressure so tends to bend backwards I tried to follow the instructions but ended up with moss all over the drive, although it did clear it out of the gutter.... Probably me doing it wrong. It's OK but metal and a better attachment mechanism would have been better.

I purchased the half round scraper with right angle adapter. This is very simple tool, but it works perfectly. I have used it with a Wickes extendable 2.4m decorators pole to clean the porch gutter so far and the results are very good. You still need to get up a ladder but just at the end of the gutter to clear the accumulated debris. I'll need a longer pole to clear the roof gutters but I don't see this being a problem provided it's a rigid extension pole type Screwfix have a similar 3.3m pole so I'll give that a try. Well made and apparently sturdy components. Fit together surely and the angle adjuster adaptor is necessary to allow the gutter scraper to be used successfully either along the gutter horizontally (from a ladder), or vertically from below the gutter, on the ground. Experience does show that it is actually easiest to use from a ladder, since you can see what is required and what is happening, as you work. I've previously successfully used a drain rodding kit fitted with a brass hinged half-round end piece to do this, but wanted to avoid use of the ladder if possible, so that it might be carried out more conveniently. I would recommend that used with a ladder is the best way to apply it for your first trial. That you will be able to actually see and know exactly what is occurring, so that when attempting it from the ground, you will know how to manipulate the device satisfactorily when encountering difficulties. It can work from the ground too, but will need learning of a suitable manipulative technique to achieve the best result. My gutters are 2 x tall stories high. So the necessary Docapole length required to reach them is quite substantial and makes working overhead fairly tiring, due to both weight and leverage effort. But it can be done with some trial and error. Unfortunately in my situation, I found that the tiling on my property overhangs the gutter significantly, but irregularly. That can catch the scraper tool, or its arm, thus interfering with a nice easy horizontal clearing action. It might be that a modified scraper shape could alleviate that, but I've not tried this as yet. I just learned to manipulate the scraper by twisting at an angle (by changing ground position) to help release it when it jammed and then continue until the next hindrance. One thing that is missing from these scrapers, is a shovel-like edge that can assist in lifting the gutter contents over the edge more easily. They are currently just flat. So while they can scrape along the gutter and bring the rubbish towards you, if on a ladder, so that you can then use a round trowel or similar to lift it out, when you are on the ground that is not possible. If you are able to scrape right to the end of the gutter run, then the build-up of content matter and the necessary force required to keep it moving, is likely to push the stop-end section of a plastic gutter system out of its joint and cause leakage. When that occurred with my first attempts, I was lucky enough to be able to use the pole end assembly to tap and push the end caps back in place. With the pole option especially, you really need a tool that can both scrape along and lift, or flick the rubbish out over the gutter edge. This current scraper can be used to flick, but if you have a high build-up of leaves, moss, bird excrement, tile grit, or similar and this becomes a growing compost for grasses and other weeds, then flicking it out in small increments is very repetitive and isn't quite so easy. The material which comes down on you may be quite substantial. So a face mask, or safety goggles, is highly recommended to prevent all that ending up in your face and eyes. I may well design and 3Dprint an alternative scraper/lifter design for the future, when I get around to it. But it is something that I think the manufacturers ought to explore, as it seems a desirable additional add-on kit.

I can see how this could work but on my house the heavy clay tiles and the mortar extrude into the gutter, so a good idea but not for me. Works on the garage though, so I kept it. For those interested, the screw attachment did fit a Harris roller extension pole.

This arrived yesterday and was put to use this morning. I had cleaned my gutters by hand on a ladder last week and cleared most of the leaves, getting myself fairly filthy and uncomfortable in the process. Nonetheless, I wanted to give this a try before an imminent storm arrives later today. A previous reviewer advised he had attached this scraper to a docapole and I had bought one for the same purpose. The two connected together firmly and although it seems strange, I entirely enjoyed the next 20 minutes! Working from the ground at all times, the scraper removed extraordinary amounts of residue from the gutters, mainly silt, but all items otherwise destined to block either leaf-filters at the tops of downpipes or gulleys and drains. This was extraordinarily easy, safe and almost mess-free, except for the paths and gardens bombarded by the cleared debris. Simple, but a very unpleasant and potentially dangerous job was turned into something comparatively effortless. Wonderful!

Bit pricey for a piece of plastic, but cheaper than calling out a gutter cleaner. With a 5m painters' pole I can clean out the gutters on my house with just a stepladder. It's worth buying this version that comes with the adaptor to change the angle, I can't see how you could clean from ground level without it. It's a messy job flicking bits of moss and other debris onto the floor, so some form of eye protection is a good idea (eye-dea?). This has become an essential bit of maintenance given the downpours we've had in the last two years, as I found out when a blocked gutter caused water to run down the house and in through the boiler vent.
