Would this be recommended for a beginner?

If you're a beginner who wants to learn about photography, and/or aspire to become a pro photographer, this camera would take you all the way. Be ready to spend serious money for lenses, to use the camera to it's potential. It does have a "program" mode, so it can act as a point-and-shoot too.  It's kind of silly to buy it for that purpose, way overkill...if you're a beginner who just wants to take good photos, you might be better served with an all-in-one camera with a high quality zoom lens built in.  Lumix cameras have been very favorably reviewed, I bought this one for my Mom...she can't carry around her pro-level Canon camera gear around the world anymore: Panasonic DMC-FZ70K (http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-FZ70-Digital-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B00DY2Y28M).  She loves it, wishes this quality was available even a few years back.  Hope this helps!

Question 2

Are there any d600 owners that did not experience the shutter/sensor issues?  What percentage of owners had this problem?

Mine got worse with age.  What was a negligible problem at 2,000 clicks became a serious problem at 4,00 clicks.  A new shutter made it worse degrading seriously after 1000 shots.  I have been without the camera 5 weeks waiting for a supposedly different part number shutter to be installed.Update.  Nikon replaced the camera in April with a D610 body.  That camera seems fine.

Question 3

Does the D600 body sold by Amazon come with the 1 year Nikon USA Warranty? It may be stated here, but I'm not finding/seeing it yet. Before I purchase, I would like to know...............?

Most of the Amazon Marketplace vendors are not authorized Nikon USA dealers. Check the vendor against the Nikon site.  Nonvendors, however, sometimes sell Nikon USA cameras with warranties. Send the camera back if there is no yellow warranty slip.  The Nikon "recall" only applies to warranted cameras. Nikon has been installing an updated shutter since April 2014.  My experience says you'll likely need one if yours wasn't rebuilt after that date.

can you bundle 18-300 lense with the d600?

18-300 is a DX lens, so like Kevin Brown said, it will crop to around 10 MP instead of full resolution 24 MP.  Did you mean 28-300 lens?  The 28-300 is an FX lens and will me much better suited to this camera. Amazon has a kit with 28-300.
