Did not work for me, but...
This seemed too good to be true... and unfortunately for me, it turned out to be so. I received the unit, and installed per the instructions (incredibly easy). The unit would not update, and all I ever got was a red light. I uninstalled and re-installed per instructions multiple times, eventually blowing a cluster fuse on my truck. I contacted tech support, and was informed the fuse blowing issue has happened "a time or two". Thankfully, they were able to help me narrow down which fuse was the likely problem. They also suggested I return the unit which blew the fuse, as it was likely faulty, and request a replacement. So I returned the original unit, and once I received the replacement, installed it exactly per instructions. Tech support additionally advised me of a way to "reset" the unit while installing, which also did not help. The unit still would not update and would never work. Per the product page, this item should work perfectly on my 2018 F-150 5.0 XLT. And yes, I have the hood pin, and there is no other reason listed why it shouldn't work. But it simply won't, and that's too bad, because the idea and the install were very easy, and much cheaper than some other aftermarket remote starters. UPDATE: After returning the second unit, tech support reached out to me again to see how it performed. Once they learned it had the same issues, they sent me a 3rd unit, as well as a slightly different model, free of charge, to try out. The 3rd version of this unit still did not work on my truck, but at this point I have to assume there's something unique about my truck which is causing the issue. The slightly different model they sent me to try (lock-unlock-lock vs lock 3x) works GREAT, with nearly the same simple install. Works every time, with no issues. After all is said and done, they have great customer service, and a very good product!

Works flawlessly for a 2015-2017 F-150
Seriously an awesome buy! I don’t understand why anyone would purchase a more expensive option. This was plug and play. No joke took about 3 min to install on my 2017 F-150 XLT SCREW. It does not require the dealer programming or Forscan. It’s just plug and play. The range on this has way over exceeded my expectations. Guys in my F-150 FB group said the only way to get good range would be to purchase the OEM remote start that comes with a separate key fob. Totally not true, I can start my truck about 100 yards out. Maybe just a hair less. Although this remote start does not require dealer programming or Forscan, I still used Forscan to disable the honk. For those that don’t know what honk I’m referring to, when you start your truck you hit the lock button on your key 3 times. On the 3rd click the truck will honk. Not a big deal but I choose to disable with Forscan. As for AC/heating. You have 2 options which you can set from the instrument cluster menu. You can either have it set to Auto. Meaning based on the inside temp of your truck, it will do what it needs to get it to 70 degrees. Or you can have it set to “last setting”. So if you get out of your truck the night before and you leave your AC or heat on full blast the. It will default to full blast when you remote start in the morning. This is by far the best bang for the buck and is no different than the $200 12Volt brand. Hope this review helps!

Super easy and great value
Wow I own a 2017 Ford F-150 and this does exaclty what I need it to do and for a great price. Only thing when I was mounting it I made a mistake and touched something that blew a fuse to my radio and climate control. Installation took me probable 70 Seconds SUPER EASY and programs on its own

Buy it
Super easy to install and saved me $$$$. I would have spent over $500 using OEM parts as just making another key was alone $350. To his thing gets connected behind the 16 pine code reader and was set in less than 5 minutes using the existing key fob. Lifesaver in these cold northern winter nights

So easy, and works perfectly
Incredibly easy to install, and works exactly as described. It's going to make those cold plains winters, and baking summers much more tolerable. Also, when I was researching this product, very few descriptions described my exact setup, so I wanted to describe how this works for me. I have a 2017 Ford F150 XLT, Sport edition. It has the folding key fob, no GPS or climate control, just knobs to adjust the heat and AC. I set this remote start to do the last settings for climate controls. So as long as I set it up correctly before I get out, it will always turn on to my previous settings. If it's hot in the afternoon but I know it will be below freezing the next morning, I have to turn the heater on full before I turn the truck off. It works just fine, as long as you remember to check the weather for the next time you will be driving, and set your knobs to that weather before you turn it off and get out. I have tried the remote start in auto once, but it did nothing to warm the truck up in the morning, just a dribble of cool air coming out of the vents. Auto seems to be for the fancier trucks with climate controls, not the ones with knobs. Hope this helps.

It can't really be this easy!
I bought a different truck this past fall and it didn't have remote start. You would think a $57,000 vehicle would have this feature, but it didn't. So, I started looking for a remote starter add-on. Everything I looked at, and they weren't the ones with all the features, were running $250-$400 installed. Ouch! And, then I came across a YouTube ad for the Start-X Remote Start Kit. All the reviews said it was great, installation was a breeze, etc. So, I sent for one, an early Christmas present to myself. The box arrived in a few days. Not much inside; a cable, a little black magic box and some zip ties. Instructions were just as clear and easy as what I saw on the YouTube video. Unplugged the cable underneath the steering column, plugged in the new cable and the black box on the other end of it. Turned the key on and it programmed itself, just like the video. Pressed the door lock button on my key fob (no extra fob device needed) three times and it started. And, three weeks later, it's still starting the truck. Zip tied the black box under the dash, put the directions in the glove box and a warm feeling of "yes, this was a good purchase" came over me. All in about 20 minutes. And, I saved $130-$250 by not buying a retail installed rip-off. No, the brand name units aren't inferior, but what they want to charge you for the fob and the install makes no sense if this is really as easy for every brand. Check it out for yourself.

please read before installing !
great product and easy install IF you have 100% of the instructions..the manual or online doesnt say a very important step. after plugging both ends into obd2 harness and before plugging in blue connector you MUST hold button on the side of unit in while plugging in to box..hold until lights stop blinking on unit then release then turn key to ON position not start and wait till light goes solid green and shuts off..then test..works great..enjoy..hope this helps

F-150 Start-X
I installed this on my 2019 F-150 and it was so easy to install. This took less than 2 minutes to do once installed. It took me longer to disconnect the module. Works with your existing factory FOB that has the switch key. Mine was a bit different than the YouTube videos I watched, and there is no program button to push at the beginning like in the videos. One I connected the blue wire into the box, it automatically started to program. Also my key program is press the lock button 3 times, and not the lock-unlock-lock, which is in the YouTube videos. If you order from Canada, expect a couple days of delay, as it may get tied up at customs. This is such an affordable auto start, better than paying 700 dollars, which i was quoted. I might upload the video we did on YouTube, to show that women can do this as well. Start-X should have a warehouse here in Canada, as we all love a warm vehicle to get in in winter.

2018 Ford F-150 XLT - Works great.
Bought this for my 2018 F-150 XLT. For the 2018 F-150 - super easy to install, worked like a charm. Est. time for install and programming is about 5-15 minutes and about a 1.5/10 for difficulty. It works fine but if that changes I'll update the review.
