all-in-one replacement! and its great
wow. i love this printer. here are reasons why:1. SPACE: we were using 2 separate printers for years. only because i had one before i got married and just brought it with me when we got married. one was a black/white laser (Samsung ML) and she had a HP all-in-one inkjet. now, the Samsung was a cheap unit and worked wonderfully for years so i really have no complaints. the HP was a nightmare with the whole ink situation. oh, you're missing yellow? sorry, cant print this black/white document. my goodness the HP was seriously possessed or something. anyways, we got rid of both printers and now have this one unit. the footprint is really small, much smaller than the HP and slightly larger than the Samsung. i would have expected it to be bigger but to our surprise, it was a good fit in our side table.2 . Quick: the start-up time and print time is such an improvement over my other printers. i didnt know i was missing out until i had this. it is on energy saving mode and when you click print, it will print immediately. HP/Samsung had a warming up phase and the HP in particular had all the warnings of low ink (that damn yellow again) that you had to press OK. such an annoyance. 3. Features: the scanning function works like a commercial copy machine: you load up the pages you want to scan on the top lid and you can feed multiple pages to scan. my wife never knew this kind of thing was possible until i showed her. she was very excited about this particular feature.all in all, a very solid printer and great investment.

Not just love it, ADORE it
I'm very satisfied with this printer so far.My old Lexmark X215 died unexpectedly, so I had to move fast in order to keep up with all the urgent things life throws at You ;-))) Of course, I started reading all the Lexmark's products reviews and got kind of disappointed... As always, we MUST have the best quality and looks on a tiny budget )))) And then this Canon machine showed up. Frankly, it looked somewhat cheap but there were not too many bad reviews, so I decided to give it a go.As always, Amazon delivered this product promptly and very well packaged. Although I have something to say to Amazon in order to improve their services and price, I must admit - these guys are professionals. They basically set up all the standards in the internet sales industry so everybody else just follow them. Just don't get too cocky, dear Amazon ))))My main concern was if I could get this thing to do what I needed the most, i.e. to print and scan my docs. I've read some reviews here on Amazon and it seemed to be a somewhat tricky task. Some guys had some issues with connecting it to the network, especially using it as a scanner via network. Well, all my concerns are gone now. So here's a few things I want to mention.Packaging - Canon did a great job with packing this printer, including all the instructions and pictures on how to unpack it properly. You can feel that Canon used good quality packing materials and packaging was very well thought out. Thank You, Canon.Looks - I DON'T LIKE that black shiny "dust and finger prints collector" surface of the printer. Personally, I prefer those old off-white, kind of greyish plastics I grew up with. But hey))), it's just my preference))) Somebody else might be different and like to wipe the dust off every single day, who knows, right?)))Size-wise, it's takes a small space, comparing to my old printer. That's a definite plus, in my opinion. All those plastic doors, paper guides, buttons feel a bit flimsy and cheap. If I may suggest, Canon can improve this printer by using may be different kind of plastic or rubber silencers in places where two pieces of plastic meet while being slammed ))))) But so far, no piece of plastic fell off that machine ))))Installation - went as smooth as it could. I just hooked it up to my router using Cat5 network cable and installed all the drivers that came with the printer on CD. It took some time for driver's installation, but my laptop had seen some better times, if You know what I mean )))Functioning - I love it. I don't have to trip on that dreadful USB cable any longer )))) All I have to do - just click a Print button in whatever software I'm using at the moment and the printer wakes up quite fast and spits out a doc. Printing quality is very good, IMHO. This printer is somewhat noisy, but I don't mind that. What I adore is Scanning!!! Yes, it's kind of tricky. It took me some time to learn this procedure. But I love the possibility of scanning many pages without interruption and being able to get them in one pdf file.Copying - I tried it only once since I got this machine. And it was making a copy of my DL (both sides) on one page. It was easy and pretty straight forward. Copy's quality was outstanding.Price - self explanatory. It seems to be one of the best deals around for this kind of functionality and quality.Summary - I don't regret buying this printer. Instead, so far I love it. It was one of the best purchases I've done. But who knows, I might come back here in the future and give Canon some hard time ))))) But let's keep our fingers crossed ))))

I've used a LOT of these products and this is hands down the best
Over the last few decades I've used all in ones from Brother, Lexmark, IBM, Canon, Epson, HP, Xerox, Oki, and probably 10 other brands that I've forgotten. The All in One has been the dream of home office people and techy executives forever, and BOY have we paid BIG money to get fancy products that supposedly print quickly and cheaply, Fax like the wind, offer very fast copier performance on par with a full sized Xerox machine and can make automated multipage pdfs blah blah blahProblem is, most of them don't work as advertised... most screamingly with regard to speed.... you walk up to a dedicated Xerox printer or the like... stick a sheet in, then make 30 copies... it's roughly a 1 minute thing... on an HP deskjet, it means warm up, boot, agonizingly slow first pass scan, in some cases a second scan... thinking about it for a while, then start printing, then finish 30 copies... in my experience typically being about 3-4 minutes at leastsure, all these companies play games with the words and when the PPMs start etc. but hard cold, slap a sheet on the unit then spit out 30 copies..... every last brand SUCKS at it... except CanonThis middleweight series, beginning with the 4570 a couple of years back, and ending with this unit.... it totally freakin amazing for this price.Pro:- instantly starts printing- copies very fast both in first sheet out and the true to spec 24 PPM it shows.... this is the first all in one to ever keep this spec promise to me.... if you get this printer, being accustomed to the copy speed and ADF speed of HP and others... you will be BLOWN AWAY by how fast this unit is... is is very very fast and a very satisfying product- has a good desktop app to auto scan to multipage PDF etc. and it actually works...Con:- the software interface is a little old fashioned but it is still very effective- when scanning remotely, you need to select, from the printer screen, the exact mode you wish or it will fail.... this should automatically happen- genuine toner cartridges are a little expensive at about $73 Canon 128 Toner Cartridge - Black I've had some very bad experience from the reloaded toners and haven't found a good one on Amazon yet... the most reliable re-manufactured ones IMO come from tonerrefillkits.comGreat product... crazy fast, cheap per page cost.... is it perfect? no, but this is the first all in one in history to seriously deliver... Love it
