It is always hard to know about accuracy since the thermometer is calibrated for the forehead. But it delivers results close to a traditional in-mouth thermometer and my (non-medical) infrared thermometer. Because it is so easy to use, it helped me track my recent covid experience, and I think every household (especially families) should have this well-designed device.

It was highly rated so I purchased. It is difficult to use and it gave different readings while trying it out. Also it did not have the safety cover on it. I returned and bought another Braun that I love.

This thermometer is a complete disaster. From the very first use, it constantly shows a fever of 41.7°C, no matter who or what you’re measuring. I tested it on multiple people, in different rooms, at different times – same result every time. I even tried resetting it, changing batteries, cleaning the sensor – nothing helped. This is not just frustrating, it’s potentially dangerous. Imagine trusting this reading and rushing to the ER for no reason – or worse, ignoring a real fever because the device is unreliable. I expected much better from Braun. For the price, this should be a professional-grade tool. Instead, it’s completely broken right out of the box. Do not buy this – you’re better off with a $10 digital thermometer.

I am not sure how accurate this is. As I have tested it against a normal mouth thermometer and ear thermometer. Sometimes this device gives an odd reading like 35 or 34, etc. It is a bit too low. All forehead thermometers have some issues, but this one is clearly more expensive and I would think the quality would be better. The name should mean quality, and I think that is lacking a little. I am not sure if I would buy another one or not. I have two of them, one for work, at a restaurant and one at home, bought for the pandemic issues. I do think it is faster than other thermometers though, and is useful for non-touch temperature checks, but sometimes more than one reading is necessary. The device is ergonomic. It does read F and C the switch to change is inside the battery compartment in the middle. Very small switch. This is a plus as in different countries we need different units of measurement. Only the US uses such an out of date hard to use system. Anyway, both are available. Readout is clear, and I like it overall, but accuracy could probably be improved.
