Hi everybody! I bought this particular Krups coffee grinder mainly because my mom has one that is coming up on 20 years old. As the saying goes, "they just don't make em like they used to." Or do they? The answer is YES. Side by side comparison of the 20 year old white Krups, and my brand new black Krups revealed almost no difference. They are identical. You know what that means to me? It means the company knows they make a great product that lasts for years, so why change it? All I can say is I wish Krups made cars. So, about the grinder... It is very simple and straightforward. A powerful machine with one purpose: to pulverize anything you put in it. I mainly use mine for coffee, but I also use it for spices occasionally. Normally I hand grind all my spices in a mortar and pestle. I have even used it to grind my home grown dry chili peppers to put in a shaker. It works beautifully! The only problem with that is cleaning, but its not fair to fault the machine for that. After all, it was meant for coffee beans. It does take a bit of work to clean it without damaging it. You can't exactly put it in the dishwasher. I used a dry toothbrush and toothpicks to pick out all the spicy mess. I assume I got it all out since I don't taste any chili pepper in my coffee. Heck, for 20 bucks, its worth buying a second one just for spices! This is a great grinder! It is well built and very powerful! There is no doubt in my mind that this one will last 20+ years just like my moms! UPDATE 2/2016! It's been about 4 years and this grinder is still going strong! I use it about 2 to 3 times daily. I haven't had one single problem with it, and I have not had to perform any sort of maintenance except for the occasional cleaning. I have noticed a few gripes from other reviewers that I would like to address: 1. Hard to pour the coffee into the coffee maker from the grinder. Really? Come on. Grind your coffee, turn the thing upside down with the lid on, give it a few taps, and pull the lid off in the upside down position. Now you have a nice little container of ground coffee to pour it into your machine. It's not brain surgery... you can do this. Give it a try! 2. Oval shape hinders the circular flow of beans while grinding. I have found this only matters when you overload the grinder. Keep it to level with the top and you're golden. If you're like me and insist on filling the thing with a huge heap, then do this: I solved this by pulsing the power button 5 or 6 times. While doing that, you can watch the grounds circulate top to bottom, not round and round. Either way, your beans still get pulverized, so who cares? 3. Comparing this unit to a high dollar burr grinder. NO! STOP IT! This is a $20 blender type (for lack of a better term) It's not a barrista's wet dream $300 burr grinder. It's just not, no matter how much you want it to be. If that's what you were expecting when you dropped a whole Jackson on this one, you must enjoy disappointment. It's like comparing apples to.. hmm... applesauce.. yeah, applesauce. Lets go with that. 4. Too loud. I saw one reviewer that described this unit as "deafeningly loud" which I had to chuckle at. Granted, it's not exactly quiet, but it's not "deafening" in any sense of the word. If you're one of those spastic drama queens who overly exaggerates everything, this one is not for you. The grinder is basically a drill motor with a tiny lawn mower blade on it. It's gonna make some noise. I'd say it's comparable to a hair dryer on low. I am rather biased on the noise level though. I work in a steel mill, so to me the noise level is no big deal. Take that for whatever it's worth to ya, but it's hardly deafening or I would most certainly be stone deaf by now. I will update again sometime in the future! ta ta! 10 YEAR UPDATE!!! I have nothing to complain about.. literally nothing! This grinder still works just as good as the day it was new! Considering at least a pot a day sometimes more, we are talking over 3,650 uses. That also makes my moms grinder I mentioned 30 years old and hers is also still going strong. I challenge you to show me any product that lasts 10 years without a single problem. Some may say "Its not the years, its the mileage." which is true to an extent... however, I am not nice to this grinder.. Its not a once-in-a-while thing. Its had daily use since day one. We've been through a lot together and she's got a lottta rough miles on 'er... but the most important thing is she's still here and just won't give up.

This is great little coffee bean grinder, which I also use to grind herbs and spices. I had this same model for about 25 years before the plastic became brittle and I had to dispose of it. I hope this new one will be as hard-working and efficient as the first one I bought.

This is my second of this item. I went a bit hard on the first one trying to grind too many beans in one shot. That is totally my fault. It worked well and lasted long enough for the use I got out of it for me to consider it worth the price paid. I got the exact item again. Just don't try to pack too much into it. If you're having to push the lid/cap down for the power button to engage, you are pushing it too hard and overworking the device. Having freshly ground coffee in the morning is the best!

This grinder is a solid everyday option if you want something simple, compact, and noticeably quieter than most blade grinders. It handles coffee beans, spices, and herbs easily, and the removable stainless steel bowl makes cleanup much easier than typical designs. The “Silent Vortex” feature really does make a difference, it’s not silent, but it’s definitely less noisy than most grinders in this category. It’s also fast and straightforward to use with one-button operation, and it can grind enough for up to about 12 cups in seconds, which is convenient for daily coffee routines. However, since it’s a blade grinder, the grind consistency isn’t as precise as burr grinders, so it’s better for casual coffee drinkers rather than people looking for very specific grind sizes. Another thing to keep in mind is that while the removable bowl is convenient, some users find that fine particles can get into the base over time, which can make cleaning a bit tricky

Perfect for everyday home use. Easy to clean, lid can be used to prevent spills, and the perfect cord length. The motor is a little loud at first but performs EXCEPTIONALLY with no static.

This is an amazing grinder. I tend to grind 2 tablespoons at a time, and don't want a large grinder. I use it for herbs (black pepper, and other seeds mostly). I was specifically looking for a small grinder for herbs, before I found this. I wasn't really looking for a quiet grinder. I stumbled upon this in my search for a small grinder. Most grinders in this size range are portable, and that's not something I need. While this grinder is small, it's very high quality and very powerful. I have used a lot of grinders and this is by far the quietest grinder, easily 1/10 the noise of other "quiet" grinders. The lid design gives it a double wall with air between when in use. Similar to how a double pain window works, this greatly reduces the noise. The double wall design ensures that no dust escapes the grinder while grinding. I have used this for very tiny seeds, much smaller than pepper, and it does a great job grinding them. The "Vortex" design is great for small quantities as it causes all of the particles to form a tornado-like movement inside the grinder when in use. This gives it a very even grind, as all the particles are thrown around in the vortex, instead of having some sit on the bottom. The power of the grinder is perfect for my use. For my use, it's important that the grinding bowl is metal. Some seeds I grind are very tough and have scratched the sides of other grinders that had plastic bowls. The top is quite high up so it isn't really an issue that it's plastic. On other grinders that had plastic bowls and a plastic top, the tops never got scratched much, but the sides did. On grinders with glass, the glass broke eventually. Never use a grinder with glass parts. It's dangerous. The grinding bowl is easily removed and easily cleaned. This is very important. I've had other grinders that were not so easily cleaned and had parts where particles would accumulate and were almost impossible to clean completely. This is a blade grinder obviously. I have used steel burr grinders, and the main issue is that the burrs slowly wear down after every use (you ingest steel particles from that). Eventually you have to replace the burrs after a few years. If you buy a burr grinder that doesn't let you replace the burrs, you're buying a grinder that you'll throw away in a few years after the burrs ware out. Blade grinders don't have this wear issue nearly as bad as burrs do. I have blade grinders that are over 10 years old and they still work great. I like that the cord can be wound around under the grinder, so that you can extend the cord to just the right length on your counter top so that you don't have a long cord dangling around your counter top. This is a must have feature in my opinion. This also has overheating protection. Another must have feature. If you run it too long, and it overheats, it will temporarily shut down, preventing damage to the grinder. A lot of grinders don't have this feature and will simply be destroyed and rendered useless if this happens. Do not buy a grinder without this feature. A good example of a grinder NOT TO BUY is the CUISINART Coffee Grinder DBM-8P1. The reasons are: burr grinder wears out and you can't get replacements; it's 100% impossible to clean all parts that come into contact with what you're grinding; it is rendered useless if it overheats; it's super noisy; it spits out dust while it's grinding, so you always need to clean up dust after each use. It's just plain awful. This grinder has none of those issues. This is easily the best blade grinder in it's class and is highly recommended.

A great product that grinds my coffee beans perfectly. Easy to use but a bit noisy.

I purchased this item to grind chia seeds and it works perfectly. I took off one star since the inside is somewhat challenging to clean, but I knew this when I purchased it. The grinder grinds the chia seeds quickly and consistently. It’s compact so I can keep it tucked away in a small cabinet.

Non troppo grande, 17x7x9cm. La lama trita benissimo anche semi piccoli come sesamo e lino. Il motore sembra funzionare ottimamente, il manuale consiglia di non tenerlo in funzione troppo a lungo; in ogni caso per tritare semi non occorre tenerlo molto acceso, anzi. La pulizia è abbastanza agevole e il coperchio NON sparge il contenuto di fuori una volta aperto.

Love this Grinder! I've been using it for over a year. I use it to grind E.g.Cumin and Coriander seeds as well as herbs like Rosemary if you want powder. It is very quick to grind and easy to clean. It handles small amounts very well which was one of the attracting features for me. I am going to take someone else's advice and get another one for grinding milder herbs while dedicating this one to the more pungent spices. However, if you have only one, not a deal breaker at all. You'll likely not regret the purchase.
