Home Brewing: A Complete Guide On How To Brew Beer

Very informative. I've been home-brewing for a few years now and would consider myself an intermediate-level home-brewer but still learning. With this in mind I didn't use it as much for the step-by-step explanations on how to get started in brewing (although it did provide in-depth instructions), but rather used it for advice on moving from extract to all-grain brewing. It definitely helped me get off on the right track. It really digs into some of the science behind the brewing process, but in a simple way so people understand the why and how instead of just following steps. There was also a lot of information and history about beer that I found interesting and hadn't known. This is a great book if you're looking for an all-encompassing reference about beer including beer history, ingredients, making your first batch, troubleshooting techniques, and some great sounding recipes. For the money, you can't beat it.

With four batches under my belt this is the book I keep coming back to for help. There are many "must have" books on home brewing and I have them all but is my favorite. The information is up to date and the book is only a year or so old. There are Not a lot of pictures but it's not an issue as his explanation of procedures and steps are detailed and all inclusive. If you have any common sense or intelligence you will have no problems following along.

I downloaded this book just out of curiosity ($3 for a kindle book - what can you loose?), and it opened for me the door both to home brewing and boutique beers in general. Excellently written, the material is clearly presented, and a highly engaging and enjoyable read. Most important though is that will ***inspire you*** to brew some great beer. I thought at first to give it only four stars since I would have liked a little more depth, but after buying John Palmer's How to Brew (an excellent book in it's own right), I realized that a book greatly technical detailing the chemistry and biology of brewing is daunting, and will discourage the first time brewer. You will find here all that you need to know, and I am sure that there is some good practical info for those who have brewed before too. My first batch using a combination of malt extract and steeped grains - was quite impressive, and has already inspired some relatives into brewing their own. Highly recommended.

this book is great, it explains everything the beginner brewer needs to know to brew and understand the process of brewing, is easy and entertaining to read. I finished it before brewing my first batch and it was a great help, it has a lot of tips and how to's and it comes with a handy troubleshooting section with the most common problems and how to fix them. I love it!

It's a comprehensive book from brewing to beer tasting to definition of styles. I would have liked more recipes but other than that I think it gave a lot of great information. I would still recommend a companion book called How to Brew by John J Palmer.

Be warned: This is not a simple "how to brew beer book." This is an introduction to everything beer: the history of it, the classification of it, the brew process, the nature of grains, and above all the JOY of beer. This is one of the bed ways to get the big picture for not only brewing, but the craft beer scene in general. I learned a lot from this book. Some of it helped refine my process, some of which refined my pallete. Very informative, exciting, an helpful. He also includes some great pairings, recipes, an even beer based dishes to try.

Easy, friendly read for the new home brewer. Bits of history, education, and philosophy on home brewing and drinking, mixed in with practical tips and thoughts on how to improve. Book was a bargain. I read it between making my 2nd and 3rd batches ever, and have some ideas on new beers to try, books to read, and methods to explore. Well done.

Simple, informative and helpful. I was looking for a book to introduce me to home brewing and I feel confident with this book to refer to that I can start now.

I have found this a really good read giving lots of good advice on home brewing from extract to experienced brewer. Well written and enjoyable. Recommended.

I bought this book (Kindle version) after reading Papazian's and John Palmer's classic books. It was really inexpensive so I thought why not?. After all I'm a nervous beginner (I know, relax, don't worry, have a homebrew) looking for the best sources available. Definitely a great purchase! This books provides balanced and useful information and I enjoyed reading it. The use of academic references was something reassuring. The list of online sources provided is very useful. It has a personal yet knowledgeable tone. I had no issues with the digital formatting. I really recommend this book if, like me, you're looking for reliable, precise and practical information to begin your home brewing trip.

Even if a lot of stuff in there is for beginners, I've a bunch of very interesting things in this book. A keeper for future reference!
