Powered USB Hub 3.0, atolla USB Hub with 4 USB 3.0 Data Ports and 1 USB Smart Charging Port, USB Splitter with Individual Power Switches and 5V/3A Power Adapter

I've got several USB hubs, some powered, and many are poorly made junk. This one is good. The included power supply is decent (not some Chinese "House Burner" PoS) and the hub works fine. I'm using it on my Mac Pro to take the keyboard and mouse into the USB2 front port of the Mac Pro and it works without problems. I use this method so that if I touch my mouse and discharge a static burst it won't wipe out and damage my internal Mac Pro USB ports. Like this unit so much that I bought a second which I'll take along with my MacPro Book as a portable USB3 hub. The hub itself is plastic but well made. Both the USB3 hub and the power supply are fairly light so they are easy to carry with other gear in the MacBook Pro carry bag. The USB cable that connects this hub to your laptop or PC is only about 1 ft long but thick and is of high quality. It is permanently attached to the hub unit -- a good thing, as it makes for a solid USB connection to the hub. It you want more distance between this USB3 hub and your PC then you'll want to buy a good USB extension cable. I've use this well made USB extension (6 ft) with no problems: "OKRAY 2 Pack USB 3.0 Extension Cable 6 Ft Nylon Braided USB Cable Extender - Type A Male to Female with Gold-Plated Metal Connector". After buying way too many USB hubs that failed and were poorly designed, this one is a "keeper".

I just got this today, as I am using it to link in an array of SSD Drives that hold movies in a MKV format and pipe them into my TV's USB Port. The TV only has 2 ports and I have a vast library of movies that I am converting to files on computer drives, currently thinking I should have opted for the larger model, (7 port). When I plug a cable into a port, I DO get a solid connection as you can tell by the friction of plugging it in, but there is a space of 2~3mm from the housing of the cable connector to the surface of the hub's body, not a big deal... so far and hoping it stays that way. It is much smaller than I had expected and very light. The cable are heavier than the unit, so I had to wire tie the cables (Power and out put) to the power cable for the TV, so it stays stable and won't fall to the floor. When I am ready to expand my inputs to my TV, enough time will have passed by to have a point of reference as to the quality of this device. No problem till then, then I will by from them again, only a larger scale model. For only $10 more I could have had 3 more ports. *Additional note: At first I thought the LED at ther ON/OFF switch wasn't responding. I was at fault, as I didn't hold the button long enough. I had only merely pushed it, but you really do have to give it a long push and then it responds properly. Changing my 4 stars to 5 stars.

I recently switched from using my desktop to my laptop for my daily driver, which for most wouldn't be a major issue if they only had 2 USB A female ports available. As someone who spends up to 10 hours a day working at my desk, I really need some "creature comforts". I.E. I have a wireless Evoluent vertical mouse to combat wrist problems, and I have my laptop on a stand so I'm not hunched over so I have a separate keyboard(early IBM Model M, which requires power). When I do need to use another USB device it became this major decision... Would I rather not use my mouse or my keyboard? This hub is everything I needed and more. It works with both the keyboard serial port adapter and my mouse dongle freeing up the USB-A female on the right side, and also adding 3 more ports on the hub itself. The ONLY issue I have is the ports are TIGHT and overall it feels very plasticky and "cheap", i.e. I was afraid I was going to break it when setting up and pushing the USB devices in. That didn't happen, so I would say that probably isn't a design flaw - but will update this review if that changes.

Since the moment I have 2 Raspberry PI 4B's, I have been struggling booting from USB3 SSD or SATA HD drives as the Raspberry PI 4B is very power critical. I use ArgonOne cases for my PI's and when it powers up it also suffers a small spike in power consumption when spinning up the fan. I tried numerous powered USB3 hubs, but all of them had the problem of power feedback to the USB3 port of the Raspberry PI and it simply won't boot from external HD's. But now with this powered USB3 HUB, I can boot directly from a SSD drive and mount the other SATA HD drive without any problems ! It is important though (at least for my config) that all the drives are connected to the HUB, and that the hub is connected at the LOWER USB3 port of the PI 4. The drives need to be 'on power' when the PI4 boots. Speeds I get with a standard SSD : between 250 - 350 MB/sec (depending on the linux distro, Ubuntu gives the highest throughput, 350 MB/sec, all other distros I tried peak up to 250-280 MB/sec) In the same HUB I also have a Seagate 1TB SATA HD, and the throughput stays stable around 120 MB/sec. I ordered two of these hubs, and they both perform fine on a PI 4B-4GB ('older' revision) and a PI 4B-8GB (Newer revision). I only tested for a week or so, with two external drives. But till now , it works 100%. If you have a Raspberry PI4 and are looking for a GOOD powered USB3 hub in order to connect SSD/SATA HD's, this is the only one I could find in almost 1,5 years. I wish I had bought this HUB earlier, would have saved me lots of time and frustrations!

This wonderful little black box is a 4-port, POWERED, USB 3.0 Hub. With an extra Smart Charge port for charging your phone/tablet/device. The On/Off switches are very clicky and responsive. The Blue LED indicators for all 4 of the USB ports make it simple to know which ports are being used, and which ones are NOT. So, gone are the days of unplugging the wrong flash drive, causing the loss all your data or it being corrupted. Now I have used this thing daily for the past 3 almost 4 months now, and I have to say… I have ZERO complaints! That is very strange for me as I always seem to find something, anything wrong with pretty much everything I buy. I am a sort of nitpicker you could say. Now the USB ports provided by this Hub are USB 3.0 and NOT 3.1! This is important if you are after max data transfer speeds. Now the difference between the two, even as noticeable as it is, really will NOT make much of a difference to the average person. As the average person is not looking to transfer a 10GB piece of data in seconds… The average person is going to start the transfer and walk away. Then they will stay away for a minimum of 5 minutes, and 5 minutes is plenty of time to transfer data at 3.0 speeds. Remember 3.0 is an enormous upgrade from 2.0!! Now, about the charging port…. Hhhmmm, what can I say about it... It is NOT QC 3.0 compatible so for me, it doesn’t really have any use for it…. However, for someone who doesn’t care about charging speed, or does NOT have a quick charge compatible device then they will surely get good use out of it! Now one of the major selling points about this Hub is that it supplies its OWN POWER! Which means it can totally handle one of those external drives being plugged into it and used. Sure, there are tons of External drives out there that do NOT require an external power source at all, but there are still many, many that DO. So overall I would highly recommend this to anyone who finds themselves in need of extra 3.0 ports, OR they cannot reach the ones they already have.

This small powered hub is great--4 ports for attachments with USB devices plus another USB port for charging a phone. It has 4 switches that are supposed to control each of the 4 ports which are supposed to be lit when powered. They are all lit on mine and the switches don't work, but power is delivered to the devices I connect--that's the important part. The charging port also works well. I've been using it at home so far, but will take it with me on my next trips. It's nice and compact and the charging port is an extra plus.

Just connecting it to my Plugable Docking Station with out using the wall outlet plug and I was able to power and connect a razer chroma keypad. Lights up and works. I even connected a 3DConnexion mouse and it works just fine and it has a screen on it. I can use USB flash drives as well. The only downside is it the weight is like nothing. Great for travel though because of it. I would have liked more weight since it stays on my desk. Easy fix. Use the wall tap that comes with one of those temporary 3m wall hooks use.

I tested two units (replacement) on two different computers using each 3.0 USB port and both units failed to post 3.0 USB memory sticks (different brands). Also failed two different webcams. 2.0 USB Memory sticks work fine. For comparison, I have an AUKEY non-powered 3.0 USB HUB that acknowledges everything thing I plug into it. I couldn't determine the reason for 3.0 plug-ins to fail to post in the system. Otherwise, the item appears to be a solid quality. Just didn't work for me. Update: I decided to move my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. While I haven't responded, the company did attempt to reach out to via email to see if there was anything they could do to assist in getting the unit to work. There were no promises of free product or pressure to change my rating. From other reviews, it appears to work for most folks, so it could be a driver issue on my part, but I spent all the time I care to troubleshoot the issue. But for reaching out, the product build looks solid, and assuming good intentions from the seller, I think it is fair to up the rating.
