30 Rock: Season 5

I think that they perfectly managed to keep the storyline interesting and not to crowded with guest stars. There is some real character development for Liz this season who for the first time starts out a season in a relationship. But of course it will not last. Having Matt Damon play her boyfriend was very good, but also led to him not being available for a lot of episodes. There was not really enough time for us to bond with him. He was in three episodes this season: the premiere, the live show, and the valentine's day episode. I wished they could have prolonged his stay. Jenna and Tracy remain career focused, and still get the best comedic material in the show. Jack and Avery welcome their daughter Liddy. And there is a very nice twist to their relationship by the end of the season. All in all this season left me wanting more, and you will not be disappointed by the quality and humor.

Alec Baldwin is pure genius each season! Unique and hilarious show created by the amazing Tina Fey.

Best show and it doesn't matter what season. I have never have experienced a show that NEVER takes itself seriously and it always enjoyable. The Office and Parks and Rec took themselves too seriously (Pam and Jim, for instance), Scrubs stayed on too long, and most others just fizzle out. This show did not. Funny, funny and more funny. You can criticize the actors and their lives off the set, but the show itself ROCKS, just like its name.

If you have never watched 30 Rock, I highly recommend watching it. It's a hilarious show that will make you laugh the entire episode. If you like the humor in Parks and Recreation or The Office, you will like this show. This is a good season and if you don't own it yet I recommend buying it. This is a good place to buy it, it's one of the cheapest places to get it (although it may be a bit cheaper on eBay if you are ok with it being used).

I discovered this show a couple of years ago, and while I am still behind on Season 6, the preceding seasons, especially Season 5, were laugh-out-loud funny! I never used to appreciate a lot of certain types of humor (adult humor), and now I understand why: I was too young! There's a reason there is a rating system! Anyway, to make it short, if you are already a fan of Tina Fey and Alex Baldwin, you will enjoy watching their hilarious exchanges and the escapades of everyone who works on "The Girlie Show". The timing of each line, gesture, and action is perfect. I don't know how they shoot these episodes without cracking up a hundred times, but of course these are professional actors and comedians, so they must have a method of keeping a straight face.

This is a great show and the DVD is filled with extra features, so even a die hard fan of the streaming services can still enjoy the DVD.

Some people don't get the comedy genius of 30 rock, butt for those who do, this set is a must. It will provide many hours of enjoyment & make for a great marathon of viewing on a rainy weekend. If you are new to this show, start with season 1, for those who love it, it is just part of the collection & usually contains the first 4 seasons as well.

While it does at times suffer from the hipper than thou aspect of any Saturdan Night Live derived series or movie, 30 rock still does have its share of strong moments. The secondary characters are quite strong and even Kenneth does not drive me as crazy as h e used to. Tina Fey is perfect as Lz Lemon and directs a wonderful cast which this year has been augmented by a great number of guest stars. It is still one of the better comedies around.

When I accidentally added my fifth season, and subsequent fifth purchase from Amazon of the 30Rock series to the 'save for later' part of my basket, and was then (amazed) - lets say er, pleasantly surprised when it was reduced by over £9.00 last week!! I had to change that status, buy it quick sharp and then add this series five to my now full collection, and as much as I try to convince people here in the UK of the GENIUS of both Tina Fey's writing, as well as her and Alec Baldwin (& all the casts! exceptional roles in the show) - and to ignore the fact that Channel Five were the only UK station with the nous to buy the initial rights to broadcast, (which it stopped mysteriously before sliding back into the safety of endless CSI re-runs and rubbish documentaries) - 30Rock seems to constantly slip under the radar, (unlike say, the crass but great but VERY over-killed both on the BBC and on DVD of say, American Dad or Family Guy) - 30Rock doesn't drop in quality season to season, in fact it gets more addictive, it isn't offensive to the senses but I also get the feeling it won't age as badly as a pointlessly bought 'Friends' series would. It is smarter and funnier than 75% of even the best in UK comedy and in short, I buzz off having ALL five series for around £60 spent and spread over 3 years, via amazon, that's a great deal. If it remains my secret with a handful of culty convert friends, so be it! But if a long winded review on the mightiest site in the world gets it a few more fans, then that's all good too! I also MASSIVELY rate this vendor on Amazon for such a bargain, and as is always impressive, the speed in which delivery occurred ahead of schedule.... 10/10. Duncan W

Toujours autant de gags , de références à d'autres émissions ... Imaginez une série en France diffusée sur TF1 où on se moquerait de la chaine , de l'actionnaire principal de la chaine , des dirigeants du groupe , le tout avec des guest stars hyper connues : impossible ! Hé bien ici c'est le cas , les moqueries sur NBC ne manquent pas , sur leur groupe , sur leurs dirigeants , à travers cette série qui se passe dans les studios d'un show NBC . Bien entendu comme toutes les séries américaines à ne regarder qu'en VO sous titrées ( ceux qui ne le font pas ne sont pas de vrais amateurs de séries américaines de qualité )

Ich kenne 30 ROCK ausschließlich auf DVD, ich habe es auch ein paar Mal im Bezahlkanal gesehen, dann aber immer wieder die Ausstrahlung verpasst. Es ist schade, dass dieser Serie in Deutschland kein größeres Publikum vergönnt ist. Auch in Staffel 5 ist der Humor packend! Wer sich diese Staffel zulegt, wird wissen, was er von der Serie zu erwarten hat und erlebt wie immer nur positive Überraschungen. Am besten schaut man die Episoden einfach nacheinander weg, weil sie so gut geschrieben und inszeniert sind und schlichtweg großen Spaß machen! Während man Tina Fey und auch einigen anderen Darstellern die Routine aber auch augenscheinliche Freude in ihrem Spiel anmerkt, wussten mich diesmal besonders Alec Baldwin und Tracy Morgan zu begeistern, die natürlich auch ihren Charakteren treu bleiben, aber eine außergewöhnlich gute Leistung an den Tag legen. Als Extras werden in Staffel 5 geboten: - die üblichen Audiokommentare und entfallenen Szenen. - "Live Show" (West Coast Version) - Hinter den Kulissen der "Live Show" - Jack Donaghy, Geschäftsführender Superhero - Jennas Nachruf-Song. Achtung: es hat keinen Sinn, mit der 5. Staffel einzusteigen! 30 ROCK erzählt eine gewissermaßen fortlaufende Geschichte, die von Staffel zu Staffel evolviert. Um den Witz der 5. Staffel begreifen zu können, wird serieninternes Vorwissen vorausgesetzt. PS: Muss mich einigen Mitrezensenten anschließen, dass das Bild in manchen Folgen extremst düster ist. Das ist mir, schaue ich die Serie doch am Laptop, so leider erst nicht aufgefallen, kristallisiert sich aber mittlerweile doch heraus.

Non è edizione Germania come scritto nella descrizione del prodotto!! Ho acquistato questo cofanetto fidandomi della descrizione ed aspettandomi come ovvio la lingua tedesca. Invece è presente solamente l'inglese. Ultimamente Amazon sbaglia troppo di frequente descrizioni e consistenza dei prodotti...purtroppo ciò che arriva è sempre peggio di quanto promesso!
