I have found that this tool is also useful for some of the more common splices where there ...
Working in a rigging shop and accumulating all the tools possible for every job. I bought this product for working with the small-stuff/ thin cordage. However, I have found that this tool is also useful for some of the more common splices where there is a very tight fit with a tubular or Swedish fid. For instance, it can be tough to tuck a cover into a section with spliced core (such as a double braid eyesplice), but the thin wire is easy to slide past the spliced core and then works well to pull the cover through. However, after only a handful of these types of splices one of the wire needles has broken; maybe it was not meant for my newfound purpose. Not to worry, the wire seems easily replaceable, which causes me to wonder if it was really worth $50. I probably could have made this myself. Nonetheless, a good product.

Great tool.
This makes splicing dyneema a breeze. I mainly use it for making soft shackles. It is a great tool and almost a must for a marine rigger if you ask me. One piece of advice, since it is designed for small line, take your time to work the line instead of trying to force things through when splicing. The needles would be easy to bend if you are applying too much force. If you slowly work the line it will pull right through.
