From the manufacturer Features All of our models feature a full length chaincase. We designed this case to fully protect both you and your bike from grease coming off your chain. You won’t have to worry about tucking in your pant legs or oiling your chain as often. Phew. Our 7i models use a clever design that puts all the gears inside the rear wheel hub. This means you can easily shift gears and you don’t have to worry about the chain falling off. To keep you clean, all Simcoe models feature high-quality, stylish fenders. Our fenders come installed with unique leather washers. We use leather because it helps ensure that your bike will not squeak or rattle, and leather washers help prevent corrosion if you ride through the winter. Bet your last bike didn’t have these! The handlebar and stem on our bikes keep you upright and comfortable, without having to reach too far or put pressure on your wrists. We then use convenient thumb shifters for quick and accurate shifting. Roadster 7i The Roadster 7i, with its weather-tough internal gearing, was designed with an impressive attention to detail, and under the wood is a well-considered core. The 7i features a mixed-chromoly frame, fenders, rear rack and full chaincase, and is the perfect bike for quick trips around town. The riding position is upright enough for you to easily people watch — yet aggressive enough to get you to your destination in plenty of time. Built with theft-deterring features like bolt-on wheels and braze-on mounts for a Dutch-style rear wheel lock, it's also designed to stand-up to the elements. We use a four-step paint process, including a phosphate base layer and ultra-durable polyurethane clearcoat that creates a highly chip-resistant finish with a rust-resistant undercoat - tough enough for any urban environment. Traveling by bike in a dense urban environment requires a bike that is both nimble and stable, not just one or the other. Your Roadster 7i is designed to stay glued to the ground while you thread your way around pedestrians, cars and potholes. At Simcoe, we put an incredible amount of thought and experience into our geometry. We call it CitySmart, and it offers the smartest, safest, and most enjoyable geometry on the market today. The Story of the City Bicycle This is a bicycle that was first created in a bike shop, shaped by greasy hands over a floor covered with broken spokes and rusted chains. This is a brand that was born in the North, but has rolled south through tunnels and over land. This bicycle’s geometry is designed for hills and valleys, laneways and alleys. Every angle, diameter, and component is a commitment to the craft of virtuous motion. Simcoe builds bicycles for the city. Our experience dates back to 2004, when we were one of the first company to import European city bikes to North America. We quickly realized their elegant design was not practical—hills were dreaded and stairs were unconquerable. Our cities needed something that was sophisticated but quick underfoot—robust but easy to carry into a walk-up. Simcoe bicycles are designed for those who ride at dawn, who unlock their bikes after the first snow, or who carry groceries and shopping. We value quality above all else. That's why we stand by our products with a comprehensive limited warranty. If you experience an issue with your Simcoe bicycle, we're here to help. Just contact us through our website. Review: Not as pictured, but not a bad bike. - First off: I got this bike on a ridiculous sale through desertcart, so I'm probably a little kinder than I would be otherwise. First off, it is not as pictured. Plain vinyl saddle, generic fork, Kenda tires. The saddle is junky, the Kenda tires are fine, the front fork isn't as pretty but otherwise probably also fine. Now that we've got that out of the way I have to say that this is a very reasonably priced Real Bicycle for somebody looking for an upright, city-style bike. The Nexus 7 hub is convenient, reliable, and low-maintenance and should provide excellent service for a long time. Parts midrange, and the frame is made in Taiwan. For those not versed in bicycles, that's actually a good thing. This is NOT a Wal-Mart hunk of junk, but a pretty decent city bike that you could get from a bike shop. Bike arrived mostly pre-assembled, and the wheels were true out of the box. Took me maybe fifteen minutes to put together, but I'm a fairly experienced bike mechanic. You'll need some allen keys, cable cutters, and other common hand tools. If you haven't worked on your own bikes a reasonable amount then you should take it to your local bike shop to get them to set it up - they should be able to do it for less than $100. It rides well. It's not as heavy as you might think, and while it isn't fast by any means it doesn't feel like a drag. It's a pleasant cruise, and thanks to the Nexus 7 you can actually negotiate a reasonable range of terrain - the lowest gear is quite low, accidental-wheelie-low. That's a good thing on a bike like that. While I'll probably change a few parts just to improve the fit, I have no major complaints and think that this is a reasonable value for money. As a plus, this bike (in the 22" size) fits both me (6'3") and my wife (5'6-1/2") reasonably well. Review: Simcoe Get's it! - This bike is beautiful and rides great. The geometry makes it ride different (Better!) than other bikes I've ridden in this category. Small touches like fully enclosed chainstay to protect your pants and leather washers on fenders so they don't squeak show the designers are also riders. Bike also feels incredibly durable compared to others in this category I have tried. There are cheaper options and you will not regret the extra cost on this bike. LOVE IT!
