Korg MA-2 Digital Metronome for Orchestral Instruments - Blue/Black

Love the unit. Very compact, easy to pack, and intuitive to use. Its volume does, however, leave a bit to be desired. It is easily overwhelmed by adjacent noise and for those whose hearing is challenged in upper frequencies, it is a bit difficult to hear. For practicing alone with little surrounding noises, it works quite well.

I've been using the Korg MA-2 for a while now and I couldn't be happier. It's the perfect metronome for daily practice; it's very intuitive to use, and its compact size means I can carry it in any pocket. The sound is clear and can be heard perfectly even when I'm practicing with acoustic instruments. The battery life is surprisingly good. Highly recommended for any musician looking for precision and simplicity. I use it mainly for my doumbek practice sessions.

Pro: Simple to use. Has many additional features from basic metronome. Con: No volume control. The beeps are very loud.

The sound volume, at full volume, was ridiculously low. I practice the guitar, but it wasn't worth trying with this metronome. The Korg was advertised as being useful for piano or guitar. But that was a lie. I bought a digital metronome about 4 years ago, and had the same problem. I thought maybe, the idiots who make metronomes would have smartened up. But obviously not. I have since ordered a mechanical metronome that is supposed to be loud. I have my doubts that anyone is smart enough to make a metronome that would be useful while playing an instrument.

Love the compact metronome, very easy to use and it has an auto shutoff feature. The bad news is the high pitch sound that can send you through the roof. With all other metronomes having a more lower pitched click what in the world possessed them to add a sound that requires aspirin to prevent headaches. An option to choose the sound might help. Now there is a way around this issue. I first plugged the small hole with cardboard and was about to use glue to dampen the sound when I realized the fix. If you set this to one beat then it isn't bad. It is still possible to change the rhythms so I do not see this as losing any functionality. ***Korg*** you really need to look at the sound issue.
