What is the shelf life unopened/opened?

From the Uncle Ben's FAQ DRY PLAIN RICE PRODUCTS UNCOOKED RICE Uncooked plain dry rice will keep almost indefinitely on the pantry shelf. The rice should be kept in a cool, dry, insect-free area at a temperature of less than 80°F, with no foods or materials nearby whose aromas can be absorbed. For best cooking results and flavor, we recommend that the shelf life of UNCLE BEN'S® Brand Dry Rice Products be followed. In the refrigerator, uncooked rice can be stored 6 months to a year, and in the freezer for 1 to 2 years. When freezing rice, be sure you remove excess air from the container to avoid freezer burn. To cook raw rice that has been previously frozen, thaw to room temperature prior to cooking.

what's the country of origin?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it's a product of Louisiana, but certain it's USA.

yes it is white rice; it looks a little yellow due to the parboiled prcess I was told, but it is very good white rice. Enjoy it.
