Can I use this unit with an alarm system. Panel requires the router to port forward the ip. will this work in that setup?

This is a bridge and not a router. Port forwarding is done from the router. That said - yes, the setup is possible. However, this is an ancient wireless-B bridge with broken security. It would seem like a bad idea to hook this up to a security system.

I am a teacher and would like to wirelessly connect lap equipment with the wireless sensors. I do not want them to have internet. Will this work?

Hi there. It depends on the wireless technology that your wireless sensors support. Your sensors could be possibly connected via WI-Fi or through Zigbee. If you have a wireless router where these sensors are connected, then you'll be able to use the WET11 for your lab equipment. But if you don't, then this will not work.

dose it work with satellite receiver?

I use it as a wireless bridge between two Blu-ray players (Sony and Panasonic) and my WRT160N Linksys router. It works fine. You'll have to experiment to see whether it would work with your particular satellite receiver--maybe ask the receiver manufacturer or Cisco.

Can this device be used to provide a cell phone's Wi-Fi signal to a device that requires an ethernet connection?

Hi Anthony. If your phone is configured as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, then this wireless ethernet bridge should work as it will connect to your phone's wireless connection.
