I have been using a Shure V15vmr cartridge that i purchased many years ago. The stylus is a Jico SAS and it sounds very good. Several months ago I bought a turntable that came with an Ortofon OM10 cartridge which I replaced with my Shure. Although the Shure sounded good I wanted to see what else might be an improvement. I bought the OM30 to replace the OM10 and was very happy that this change gave me improved detail and clarity across the spectrum as well as, for lack of a better description, a sweeter easier listening sound than I had with the V15. I have a few hundred record albums and what I have played thus far, sound much better with the Ortofon. I have only several hours of listening and it is not yet broken in so I am anticipating an even greater improvement. In short this cartridge is amazing. I can’t really tell the difference from the stylus 10 that I upgraded from except that I think the volume is lower and I have to turn it up a few more clicks than normal. I wasn’t really looking to upgrade, the 10 was fine.
