Review: DO NOT USE DISTILLED ON MIMOSA SEEDS - Still not sure if my Venus flytrap will sprout and grow. I have the pot under a grow light nothing yet. Here is a picture of the mimosa seeds that come as a thank you gift. (MIMOSA NEEDS NORMAL WATER NOT RAIN OR DISTILLED well that’s the water I’m using for the mimosa. I was spraying it with a big spray bottle to keep the water moist. Venus flytrap I’m using distilled.)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: has anyone got the Venus fly trap? What did you think? Thanks!**
A: Briefly, these plants naturally live and thrive in nutrient-poor, waterlogged bog areas and so care has to replicate this as far as possible. They are not house plants. They need LOTS of sunlight. DO NOT use any plant foods or fertilisers or they will die. The growing medium also has to be nutrient-free for the same reason; genuine sphagnum moss is recommended. Only water them with rainwater or distilled water; the hardness salts in tap water will kill them. Keep the roots waterlogged, especially in summer. They also need a cold dormant period over winter, as in their natural environment, so as long as they aren't exposed to frost they'll be fine. If you keep them in a greenhouse or even outside during late spring, summer and early autumn and on a sunny cold windowsill during the winter they will survive.

**Q: does it actually kill them or does it need you to feed the insects for the plant?**
A: The seeds once planted should grow into a plant that catches the insects.  However I was extremely disappointed with my purchase as there were only 4 minutè seeds which did not grow.  I was extremely disappointed with my purchase, complained but to date have heard nothing.

**Q: What do I do with the sensitive plant seeds? Do they grow well with the venus fly trap?**
A: Wouldn’t purchase anything from this supplier. Bought Venus flytrap hardly any seeds so nothing grew. Not even a response when I complained.

**Q: The box came with 8 seeds that were bigger than the venus flytrap seeds, what are they?  Do they also need carnivorous soil and the same setup?**
A: There are seeds of sensitive plant, which folds its leaves when touched. My flytrap never grew,  only the sensitive ones

This seems to be a lovely kit. We haven't actually planted the seeds yet - Harry's just going to do that - but it all looks great, with nice clear instructions, pots and accessories and seeds in an attractive box. We're both very excited. Hope they grow. Fingers and toes crossed.
