Review: Plant fast! - Using this auger with a Dewalt DCD999 (1/2" drill required), and despite the clay soil and occasional rocks, it really works well. This size auger is recommended to use with a larger, heavier duty drill, but so far I've had no issues even in the heavier clay areas. With this Auger I can Easily dig holes to plant mid-sized (Quart) plants from the garden center, and the resulting removed soil is nicely broken down and easy to mix with compost and other amendments for backfilling, where digging out with a shovel I'm doing additional work to break up the solid chunks of clay soil. By rolling the auger around, you can easily expand the hole to fit most 2 quart size pots Very well made and sturdy,, I've tried cheaper augers and it always leads to failure. Never had a Power Planter fail me.
