Amazon was far more cost effective than any other supplier I had found which was good. I use Windows 7 and I am currently testing Office 2010 so I wasnt sure if the product would work. It did work and installed as if I was using Vista which was fine for me. A couple of minor issues became apparent , I have 6 gig of ram and when using Dragon it would take up far more than its fair share which I thought was odd sometimes up too 2 gig , i dont think this would happen on a normal system so i have logged a bug. Secondly I would have liked to use the integrated mic in my laptop but the system would not give me the option and I was forced to use the one that came in the box as Dragon is convinced that all internal mics are substandard, that may be but i would rather check the results and make the choice myself. The actual use of the system is good , the learning process is fast , the commands easy to use. After a couple of days of use I was still not at a point where it became easier than typing , after a few more the use of the exturnal mic was annoying me as I use skype voice all the time so was forever plugging in and out. After a few weeks it has not been used for a while , I think as a concept it is great in reality i would probably have saved my money if they had let me demo it first! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ much better than earlier versions *by C***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 October 2009* I bought Dragon Naturally Speaking from another source earlier this year and had to return it as the headset was so brittle it snapped when taking it out of the bag.I had an email from Amazon recently showing it at a third of the price I had payed from the other source. I decided to try it again.The headset still leaves a lot to be desired and no matter how I tried the volume check kept throwing back at me as being too low even though I pushed everything to maximum. As luck would have it I had another, better headset from a version of ViaVoice from about ten years ago. This was so effective I got a message that the volume was too high and I had to wind the settings right down.I then gave the speech tutorials a quick run through and decided to do some dictation. Even though I have a real broad dialect the accuracy was unbelievable and is getting better day by day.For a standard version at a cracking price this is a must buy for anyone who would like the ease of use and to rest those weary hands and wrists from constant typing.Only four stars because of the poor headset. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Possibly the market leader, but a sale tipped by a 1/2 price offer *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 November 2009* My own health is deteriorating and in preparation for the time when I have trouble typing I thought I would get Dragon set up on my PC's (the licence allows you to have it in several PC's so long as you are the only person using it that copy). Several of my friends who also have MS use Dragon and spoke highly of it.I am still training it to recognise my slurred speach, and the exercises I have used it for so far have worked, although it does feel weird sitting in front of a PC talking to yourself!I do play the World of Warcraft game (a lot) and am hoping it will help me with that, several reports I have read have said it works with the game ...Although this report will not enlighten anyone greatly about the product, I have not anything bad to say about it.There are competative products also available, such as the free speech recognition program within Vista, which I have tried, but the free program did not feel as comprehensive as Dragon. My decision to actually buy a speach recognition program, rather than using a free program was really decided by the number of 'live' recomendations I got from the prople I knew (and the fact that Amazon had a 1/2 price promotion), most of who were using it in a chat area, their responses, replies etc could hardy be distinquished from people actually typing, although this report was typed by swooping eagles.
