They are male and female pieces, correct?** A: They will mate up to the terminal posts that are included and yes they are male and female after terminals are inserted and locked. The four terminals are all the same (male) but it is the connectors that make it male/female. However, The terminal fittings DO NOT FIT A 2 GAUGE WIRE/CABLE!!! I had to have them drilled out and also countersunk to get my brand new 2 gauge battery cables to fit! That means both halves are exactly the same. The bad news is that if you are trying to use this with 4 gauge wire, like I was, there is a lot of gap. I don't think that crimping or soldering will work well unless you fit a spacer to take up the extra room.
