## Description

Behringer Grind Semi-modular Hybrid Multi-engine Synthesizer

Review: 5/5 – A compact powerhouse that rewards creativity every time you turn it on. - The Behringer Grind Semi-modular synthesizer is hands down one of the most creatively inspiring synths I’ve used in a long time. It punches way above its price point and feels like multiple instruments packed into one compact unit. What really sets the Grind apart is its 24 oscillator models. You’re not just getting variations of the same sound—you’re getting completely different synthesis engines, from virtual analog and FM to wavetable and physical modeling. It genuinely feels like having an entire sonic toolkit at your fingertips, capable of everything from deep basslines to experimental textures and percussion. Where the magic really happens, though, is in the sound shaping and modulation. You can dial in a tone quickly using the core controls, but the real depth comes when you start exploring the patch bay. With its extensive patch points, you can: * Add complex modulation paths * Re-route signals in creative ways * Integrate seamlessly with other modular gear or even another Grind That flexibility takes it from a great synth to a true sound design playground. The ability to chain multiple units or connect into a Eurorack setup makes it incredibly scalable for both beginners and seasoned synth heads. Another standout is how it blends digital oscillator power with an analog ladder filter, giving you both precision and warmth in one box. The result is a synth that can sound clean and modern—or gritty and aggressive—depending on how far you push it. Bottom line If you’re into modular or semi-modular synthesis, the Grind is a no-brainer. It’s affordable, insanely versatile, and endlessly fun to experiment with. Whether you’re shaping tones from scratch or building complex patches across multiple devices, this synth delivers. 5/5 – A compact powerhouse that rewards creativity every time you turn it on.
Review: Hybrid Plaits = endless fun - Mutable Plaits became an instant classic for a reason, and while the microfreak and other hardware/software Plaits versions are all great the Grind is more faithful to the originals modular eurorack design with all the CV controls + attenuators and LPG in a more convenient semi modular module. It can even do midi to CV via the assignable CV out which has like 16 options including different midi CC. The filter is basic but sounds plenty good and is the perfect analog pairing with the digital Plaits oscillator The ADS envelope is also simple but plenty to work with and surprisingly fun to use together with the LPG especially on certain modes where the osc level/trigger CV inputs can be used to "excite" or trigger the sound IE for plucked strings or percussion The sequencer can take some time to figure out but is also pretty impressive for the price, really my biggest complaint is how basic the LFO is but it does its job at least This really is an incredible synth for the size & price, it has limitations as a mono synth but covers so many sounds and has so much functionality it makes a great addition to any setup for any genre. Even after spending countless hours with the free Plaits modules in VCV Rack the grind has blown me away with how good it sounds & how fun the UI is to tweak, not to mention all the modular CV possibilities and the midi to CV which is an awesome bonus feature!
