Review: Worked great to mellow out our grand piano - Our 6' grand piano was way too loud in our living room, due in part to the hard surfaces all around the room, especially the hardwood floor. Using these acoustic foam sheets, I was able to cut out pieces to fit the spaces between the framing members underneath the piano, while still remaining clear of the piano's soundboard. The foam is thick and sturdy enough to stay wedged inside these spaces without any adhesive. The result was amazing--the piano's volume is perfect now. With the lid closed, it's very mellow, and if I want more volume, I can get it by opening the lid. The one tradeoff is that the piano's sustain is dulled somewhat, and a true audiophile might notice a change in the quality of the piano's tone, but it's totally fine for our family's purposes. Is it rolled up or flat when it arrives?** A: it arrived in a large box wrapped in plastic in original, non compressed size. though they had to air out for a week in the garage before using in the living areas of the house. they had an intense sort of like "new car smell" or "carpet store smell". I am sensitive to that. but once aired out a great product. **Q: I want to block sound to my upstairs neighbor, would mounting on the walls help with that or would it be possible/necessary to mount on the ceiling?** A: It would help stop the sound from bouncing off the walls if you mounted to the walls. If mounted to the ceiling, it should dampen to a certain extent depending on how loud the sound is. I currently have a sound acoustic foam wall covering my loft and it does the job. **Q: can i cut this piece with scissors?** A: It is not easy to cut using scissors because of the thickness of the form.
