Review: I prefer this over Travelor's Comany and Paper Republic - I've owned Traveler's Company and Paper Republic traveler's notebooks, and surprisingly, this Newestor has become my favorite. Here's why: The biggest advantage is its value. The leather is durable, develops a beautiful patina over time, and requires virtually no maintenance. While I can appreciate that Paper Republic uses premium leather with very good leather smell, I personally can't justify paying the price of a luxury handbag for what is essentially a small piece of leather with a few holes. The leather quality is excellent, but the craftsmanship involved in a notebook cover doesn't warrant that level of pricing for me. I wish I found this before the other two name brands. Compared to Traveler's Company, I also prefer Newestor's design. Traveler's Company places the elastic knots on the inside of the back cover, creating a noticeable bump when writing on the right-hand page. Newestor moves the knots into the spine between the inserts, resulting in a much smoother writing experience. The leather is just a touch thinner than Traveler's Company, which I actually prefer. It wraps and flips open more naturally while still feeling sturdy and durable. My TV version is in camel color but in suede leather which I actually don't care for. I didn't know about the suede leather until I received it but that was the only option for the color I could chose at that time. If you're looking for a traveler's notebook that offers good leather, ages beautifully, is highly functional, and costs a fraction of the premium brands, Newestor is an outstanding choice. Unless having the Traveler's Company or Paper Republic name is important to you, I think Newestor delivers the best balance of quality, usability, and value.

The pen holder and clip are nicely made and snug. One of the most impressive things is the paper. It's thicker than I expected, with no ghosting, bleeding, or feathering using both a fountain pen and gel pen from pilot. The lines on the paper are a good light color that doesn't distract from writing. I love the grid paper the most. The additional inserts for holding things is nice too! We also get 4 insert bands (plus the extra loose band), this is more than almost every other travelers I looked at! When doing shopping research, I had originally planned on buying everything separately, and it was going to be at least double what this set cost. I am incredibly happy with this notebook and all of the accessories. I am wondering how long the elastic band that holds it closed will last since I stuffed extras into the journal to really fatten it up, but replacements are cheap and easy to install so I'm not worried about it. If you are new to travelers notebooks and want to give them a try without spending a bunch of money, this one is a perfect entry point, and will possibly last several years.

A: Hi Chris, you can buy refills (midori regular size 21cm x 11cm) on Amazon or at local stationery store.

**Q: This says it fits up to 8 inserts but there is only 4 elastics? How do you expand?**
A: you elastic 2 together you'll extra elastics to do it though and I found that about 6 is the most I would run and prefer it at just 4

**Q: Does this fit A5 notebooks?**
A: No, A5 notebooks would be a little too big. This cover fits notebooks in the standard Traveler's Company (Midori) size -4.3" by 8.25". In sure you could easily trim down am A5 size book, though.

**Q: Does it come with that little leather rectangular tab that is shown threaded thru the elastic cover band that goes over the edges of the cover?**
A: Yes came exactly you see it and 1 more extra.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality! Love it

I'm really pleased with this - honestly I feel like it is under-priced. It is ready-to-gift. Comes with all these little accessories and is ready to use; you don't need to buy anything additional! Included is a binder clip, a clip to add to the leather cover so you can attach a pen, 3 notebooks (blank, lined, grid), a pen, zippered pouch and card slots, and a heavy kraft paper “folder”. The leather is also nice and soft and smells like real leather. They included an extra elastic too. I like that there’s a leather piece on the closing elastic band versus being the elastic alone, it’s more robust and won’t leave a thin indent line. For my setup, I put in the kraft folder, the zippered pouch piece, the grid notebook and my Hobonichi weeks. My photo shows the view from the top for sizing reference. I don’t think I’ll be adding anything else for the time being. I really wanted a way to have my Weeks and another plain notebook together so I’m not carrying 2 separate journals around. This leather portfolio solves that problem and looks very nice! I’ve been researching leather portfolio type setups and while I can appreciate workmanship and quality and eco friendly this and that I’m just not interested in spending $300 on a paper planner and notebooks and some barely embossed leather that other companies are offering. I believe this set was about $32. If you are looking to “test the waters” I highly recommend this set.
