Quality The quality of the rucksack is excellent and the material is very robust and I am certain it is designed for lifetime use although I'll have to see. The style is very much robust, practical, and functional and there is no room for the kind of egoistical and insubstantial styling you get with Berghaus these days. It is very practical but it doesn't look terrible or have camouflage on which would make it unsuitable for hikers as well as military use. Not that I've been in the army but I think if I was I'd be happy with the design. Size The size is about perfect as you wouldn't want anything larger for a 1-2 days hiking and being 33 litres you get a little more space than the average backpack. It's huge inside! Features and Use It has two side pockets, a mesh to pin items at the top, waist strap, chest strap, rain cover (which I can't workout), inner drawstring which is doubled up on the outside, walking stick clip, torch clip, areas to pin pens or other small items. There is a rigid back panel which keeps everything straight and stops it digging in to your back. The straps are wide, soft and comfortable and have a sort of breathable mesh effect and some sort of foam inside. This goes for the outside as well which has soft areas at the bottom and sides to keep the backpack up and ensure it is comfortable. It is very comfortable to wear.
