This year after the late winter pruning I had to prune my roses again in March due to heavy black spot. I tried many remedies, all of which effective only for a few weeks. A spray mix of horticultural soap/oil and potassium bicarbonate was the most effective but didn’t prevent this outbreak (very wet winter in London). When I added this product to the mix all the problems disappeared and beneficial insects are thriving (for the first year I have lady bugs!). Two months on and despite the rain the plants are well. The product is easy to mix It smells a bit of sulphur when applied but it doesn’t last. I appreciate that diseases of roses are linked to variety of rose and location, and must admit my climber is not in a good location. As this product can be used against rust on hollyhocks I used it on mine which had severe rust last year.
