I am also endlessly fascinated by the "word history" and "word root"... some of this stuff I have absolutely forgotten long ago, so it becomes difficult to explain to my 5 year old, but these stories and history bits have teeth and the knowledge sticks and the word(s) become that more interesting. I absolutely have so much to say, but I'll spare you... I highly recommend this dictionary for any child through teenage years.
