That's too bad, since it's an underrated set that contains plenty of inventively catchy tunes, with a quirky sonic edge that gives the songs added sonic and emotional depth. Lindsey Buckingham's eccentric, vaguely menacing "Big Love" is a standout, as is Christine McVie's brightly bittersweet "Little Lies", along with such dark-horse winners as "Seven Wonders", "Caroline", "Mystified", and Stevie Nicks's typically mystical "Welcome to the Room ... Sara". --Scott Schinder Review: Fleetwood Mac + 80s = Classic - In many ways, Tango in the Night typified the sound of the 80s and indicated (to me at least) that Fleetwood Mac had intentionally changed their sound to fit in with the synth-heavy trends of that era. For someone who grew up listening to and loving the 80s music, TITN was a sensational comeback album after a five year gap following their previous release Mirage (a great album in its own right even allowing that its impact was significantly less than its predecessors). As soon as the drum and guitar sequence comes in and then loops over and over in Big Love it's probably the closest that FM have come to a club/dance song since the tribal brilliance of Tusk. The first track on any album is key and Big Love was the perfect way to signal the start of a new 80's flavoured FM era. Family Man and You & I more or less follow the same template of a great dance groove coupled with a guitar-synth chord sequence that cries "80s" but in the hands of FM are quite brilliant and are worthy additions to their vast array of classic tunes. There isn't a weak track on the album (sure there are songs that I don't love as much as others but that's due to my own personal preferences) and for me TITN is up there with Fleetwood Mac's best long player. This box set is a little different to the other albums in the series in that there is no 5.1 high res mix and with one of the CDs featuring remixes of the songs that were released at the time. This makes sense given that the 12 inch extended remix of popular music reached its peak during the 80s and the remix CD is certainly a welcome addition to this deluxe box set. The sound on the vinyl is what you'd expect from a FM remastered album - a real treat for the ears. I'm no audiophile but I know what sounds good and TITN was always a fantastic sounding album and even more so with this remastered version. If you don't own this album and you love good music then Tango in the Night is a must-own. The deluxe version is highly recommended if you want the ultimate version of an absolute classic. Review: This is possibly my favourite Fleetwood Mac album. - I originally owned this album on cassette which I purchased back in 1987 when it was originally released and have played it to death ever since and only recently I purchased it on CD to replace the cassette version. This album is still a knockout and remains possibly my favourite Fleetwood Mac album I own. All of the songs on here are of a very high standard and it's no wonder that Fleetwood Mac were at the top of their game when they made this album. I just love it for what it is and that is a great album. The symbol start on the beginning track 'Big Love' is genius thinking and it probably explained why it opens the album. I couldn't really see it anywhere else except as an opening track. But this album spawned a handful of single releases including 'Big Love', 'Everywhere' and 'Little Lies'. Every track on here are tracks to sing-a-long to. Fleetwood Mac are and will be one of my favourite groups I listen to and they have produced some brilliant songs over the last 40+ years in their many guises. This Fleetwood Mac contained the members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. This group formation lasted until the early 1990's. This album most certainly propelled Fleetwood Mac into one of the best groups of the 1980's and their songs, especially in the 1970's and 1980's, played a part in my growing up and I think that they are a great band. As far as this album is concerned, Fleetwood Mac gave us, in my mind, one of the best albums of the 1980's.
