## Description

Product Description The DJ PRE II (formerly named the "Phono MicroPRE") acts as an interface between your turntable and your audio recording / playback system. The analog input capacitance can be switched between 100pF and 200pF to optimize your phono cartridge response. A switchable low cut filter removes turntable rumble while leaving the audio pristine. The front gain trim control and signal/clip LED allow you to optimize the preamp's gain for a wide range of input sources. The built-in low noise phono Pre-Amplifier circuitry is highly accurate and precisely conforms to the RIAA standard. The line output jacks are low impedance and can be used with any sound card. Housed in an all aluminum black anodized case, the DJ PRE II can be powered by a wide variety of external supplies. If you need to amplify and EQ your vinyl records to interface with your audio workstation, sound card, home stereo system or main monitor system, the DJ PRE II gives you flawless audio reproduction in a rugged and reliable package. Review: Preamp - This is a superb piece of kit it's worth every penny build quality is good sound quality is excellent got some good tweeks for making a few adjustments to the sound of your turntable it seem to bring the best out from my audio technica cartridge lots of detail good controlled treble good midrange and bass sounds smooth and articulate when I first thought about upgrading my first was going to be a different cartridge but I desided to go for the preamp to see what improvement could be made from using a internal preamp and all I can say is this preamp as made at least a 98 % difference to my turntable without touching the cartridge so I'm convinced the internal preamp was the weak link in my system at this time .
Review: ART DJPRE II = Turntable Heaven! - I'm using this to add Phono ability to a Yamaha amp that does not have this feature. It's a great bit of kit that also permits raising of the output level to compensate (in my case) for a very low level phono cartridge. Even with the output clipping as indicated by the LED, there is no audible distortion & the whole setup sounds fantastic! THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this what I need to plug an older turntable into a new receiver/amp that does not have a phono jack? When I plug in AUX, there is no sound.**
A: Yes. It's a fully functioning pre-amp.

**Q: how do i know which capacitance option to use (100pf or 200pf)?**
A: You can't "hurt" anything with any of these settings. Of course, you want to use the 'phono' or direct output of the turntable, not the 'line level' or amplified output. just try the 100pf (I think this is more 'standard') and listen for a while. Then try the 200pf setting and see if it sounds better. I think the effects would be mainly small, possibly none.

**Q: does this unit have an on/off stwich?**
A: There is no on-off switch. The unit draws very little power from its wall-wart power supply which would remain powered-up even with the unit switched off. I recommend leaving it on or controlling it along with the other audio equipment. Powering it up while monitoring its output results in a loud "thump."

**Q: This phono amp Does Not have 2 inputs....**
A: No it does not. 1 input (I have my turntable plugged in) and 1 output (plugged into the mic jack of my PC). I use this device to burn my vinyl to mp3. I like this method MUCH better than the USB devices available.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ worth the money

I don't have much experience with phono pre-amps. This is my first. Obviously I got it for its price. The main difference I see is in high volumes. The sound is much more clear and allows the amp to drive the speakers better. Don't expect any difference in low volumes. Another positive side-effect is for when you are using a multi-channel amp, with other non-phono sources. That the level you have set to the amp, is inconsistent between phono and non-phono inputs. With a pre-amp you can regulate it, and have smoother transitions between channels.
