Using a decent brush and technique it whips up into a fantastic lather that lasts for the whole shave, unlike many foams and gels, thick enough to provide good protection and lubrication against a double-edge blade, but not so thick as to clog up cartridges. After the shave it leaves my skin feeling quite pleasant unlike some that can have a bit of a dessicating effect, and even my throat which has particularly sensitive skin rarely has any irratation afterwards. The scent is light and pleasant, no stong chemical scent to it (pleasantly non-irritating if a bit of it gets in one's nostri), and, for better or worse, once shaving is done the scent won't linger long. As a solid block soap it will last months even with daily use and for the price it makes for good economic sense. You get a lot and it will go a long way (I watched a video on how to lather and it suggests only a small almond sized amount in a bowl is more than enough for a few passes). The smell is quite nice, nothing over the top or in your face. It really does the job, it helps to make the growth very soft and in theory could get more uses from each head before using a fresh one. Application with a brush also lifts the hairs which gives you a super close shave with virtually no after irritation (This could be down to my technique). Someone remarked that you can feel like a big baby after and I have to agree! I've never felt this level of softness afterwards. I bought the white to play it safe with sensitive skin and I had read that it is also suggested for people new to shaving so you can't go wrong. I decided to try this as I had a reaction to Arko soap that left my face itching for 2 straight days. It's got a really nice smell, very low levels of menthol and lathers very easily. It gives a very smooth shave although i will admit that the Arko was even smoother. It rinses eaily but it does leave a residue on your razor that if you are anything like me means you end up giving your razor a polish after every shave.
