I gotta smack em purdy hard but they just need to be broken in. It’s compact and looks dope. Doesn’t feel too light and cheap or too heavy and out dated. Very durable. Connects via usb. Plug and play all day. If you travel bring it with you on the plane and plug it up to your laptop and you’re back at it. If you’re looking to run it as your main drum pad tho in a home studio setup drop the additional $100 and buy the studio MPD. This is definitely for travel purposes

**Q: does this work with garageband? for mac**
A: Yes. If the software supports midi it will support this device. But I suggest just saving up a little more for an mpk25 or one of the other keyboard/drum pad combos. Also I was dissatisfied with the sensitivity of the pads themselves. Ended up reselling mine on craigslist within 2 months of buying it.

**Q: Can it be used wired instead of wireless**
A: AKAI support here! The LPD8 is wired only. If you're referring to the newer model, LPD8 Wireless, it can be used via Bluetooth or USB connection. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me directly at mvieira@inmusicbrands.com.

**Q: Can this be used with serato stems?**
A: Hi, Akai Pro support here! You can create a manual mapping for the LPD8 within Serato Stems by following the instructions in this support article: support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/5732598890127

**Q: Will this work for sure with a chromebook laptop (acer)? akai support (2017) says it may.**
A: AKAI support here! Technically, because the included software won't work on a Chromebook due to the OS, we can't guarantee your full purchase will work. The LPD8 should connect just fine since it doesn't require drivers. As long as you find another program that works on Chrome OS and supports the LPD8, you should be fine. This is a pretty nice drum machine. It wasn't immediately apparent how to effectively play it. I suggest 2 fingers per pad. It takes a solid hit to activate the pads. Single finger drumming with light taps is impossible. They misfire quite a lot. But if you use two fingers per pad and hit directly downwards with intent, you will not misfire that often. It's quite responsive if you have the right power. Not recommended for kids unless they understand this well. Otherwise, the build quality is great and everything feels professional. It just requires more thoughtful force than you would think. Hope that makes sense. I suggest the MPD218 if you have a little extra money, but this one could be nice for travel. Or an additional set of simple controls. It's actually really nice for just queuing up patches.
