Review: Love My Roborck - Why I opened the box then closed it up because I just couldn’t understand how to set it up. Called my son who is a techie lol. He showed how to set it up. Then he told me to just play out till you understand. It has 4 maps of your house. There’s lots of options how to clean or vacuum & mop. And different speeds and grids to use clean. I ordered extra filters (4) here on desertcart because that will be needed to be changed frequently for a better running vacuum. Haven’t used the mop yet. Have their solution just have done it. Oh I have a large that sheds and this vacuum does great. No piles of dog hair everywhere. Plus we have sand here in Florida and it vacuums it great. Yes I would recommend this Roborock vacuum. One problem we had was picking up clutter, cords, and little rugs. Still working on how to make it all easier for me (73yrs young)
Review: Amazing cleaning partner!! Love! - This is my first robot vacuum and I'm in love with it! I love being able to be doing something else, folding laundry, making dinner etc while this is cleaning the floors. Harry, as I've named him, is my cleaning partner. While it by no means replaces the suction on a standard push vacuum It's great at those between cleanings to keep things picked up. We have a dog with long white hair and a cat so hair clean up is always an issue and I'm very ocd about my house being clean. The suction doesn't leave my thick carpet hair free by any means but it's a great help to keep up with it. I read a lot of reviews before buying so wanted to share my experience after having this about two months now and using several times a week. I vacuum the house during the week with Harry and he mops my hard floors on the weekend...and I do a stand up vacuuming with my big vac on the weekend. I hope this helps you! Here are some of my thoughts on how this thing "Harry" works: MOPPING. This feature is amazing!!! And one of the few robo vacs with the option. I love being able to put a little cleaner and water in the bin and let it do its thing. This model doesn't have the ability to map rooms you want it to clean in (if your carpet butts up to hard floors) but I found an easy solution. As my bar stools and garbage cans need to be moved so Harry can mop everything I just use them to block off my great room so it stays on the hard floors. Leaves my floors pretty dang clean and smelling good, while I do other things! You can also buy magnetic tape to block room's but I don't see the need with my blocking technique, and I just close the doors to my carpeted bedrooms. Wet the pad on the bottom before starting to help get it going, the water in the container slowly seeps out so getting the pad wet ensures its starts mopping right away. Will need to refill water bin about every 30 min. I use a little fresh scent pine sol then fill rest with water. SUCTION. The suction is great on hard floors gets everything up. The side sweeper is great against walls and cabinets. I have thick carpet so didn't expect it to suck everything up but it does a great job. Still leaves my dogs hair behind a bit. I use my big vacuum once a week for a deeper cleaning. For what it is this little guy does pretty good! OBJECT AVOIDANCE. My husband wanted the model that is twice the price or more that has the laser mapping eye. Not sure how that works but for the price this works just great! It senses something before running into it, slows down then gently bumps it and turns around. Also the low profile is great for getting under beds and dressers where hair and dirt hides, love this! Not saying I wouldn't like the laser mapping eye but didn't want to spend 2x+ the amount and this has proven to work really well. NAVIGATION. While I know other models are more technologically advanced again for the price this works great. It vacuums in straight lines which is great for my ocd. If it runs into an obstacle it can get off track from those lines as its works it's way around things. Sometimes it seems confused and goes back and forth in the same area, but generally works itself out and keeps going. I would like to be able to control where it goes in the house but not available on this model, but again for the price I'll say I don't really mind. I just let it go where it wants or shut it in an area if I want it to stay in there. BATTERY. The battery is pretty great. Runs for 2+ hours before needing to charge. I have a 2,700 sf rambler and it can't get through the whole house before needing to charge. If it were a tad more efficient in navigation it probably could, but does spend some time trying to figure out where it is and where to go. I just charge it and set it loose on the other side of the house. MAP/APP It has a map feature that is only to show you where it went during the clean up. You can't interact with the map or tell the vaccum to work in certain areas with it. But I knew this when I bought it so wasn't expecting that. If you are looking for a vacuum you can tell where to go then spend more for the upgraded models. I don't feel a huge need for this, works fine for me. The app is more for basic settings, you can turn it on and off and see what it's doing, battery life, have it call out to you if you can't find it. You can hook to Alexa which is awesome to say "tell Harry to start" and off it goes. Again you can't control its direction or rooms work the app it's more for stop/go and basic settings and maintenance. STAIRS. We have a sunken living room with a step.down the whole length if the room, hasn't fallen once. Its senses the step, and moves away, kinda bounces along the step turning, Sensing and moving it's way along it. Perfect. DUST BIN. this model has one of or the largest bins on the market, its holds a lot for hours of work. It's easy to access right on top, open the side and empty. The filter pops out so you can clean it, found taking outside and bumping on concrete left a good amount of dirt. NOISE. I think it's pretty quiet for a vacuum cleaner. I only have my noisy stand up to compare to and its much quieter than that. It's basically just the light suction noise, I don't hear the motor at all. OVERALL. For the price this is the best investment I could have made to help keep my house clean during the week while I'm busy with work. I love being able to start it and walk away accomplishing other things and come back to clean floors. It's a little misguided at times but nothing bad. I'm sure more expensive models are a bit more intelligent but for $350 this is the best option out there. I would highly recommend if you need a helping hand. My favorite feature is the mopping, I hate mopping floors and this does the job for me! This thing is amazing and I can't believe I've never had one, will never be without now! Happy cleaning!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this have 2 year warranty?**
A: They won’t even replace mine and it hasn’t been a year! They want videos uploaded to google Drive and I guess they want to diagnose the problem for me to fix myself IDK. They said the following-
“Based amazon and our company's warranty policy, we could only give customer full refund for the product ordered less than 1 month ago. Since your product was bought more than 11 months ago, we can't arrange return and refund for it.”

**Q: How does it know not to mop carpet?**
A: We are sorry to tell you the device could not recognize the carpet and leave it away with mopping module installed. I'm afraid you need uninstall the mopping module before cleaning the carpet.

**Q: I've had an S6 for a day now and am impressed with it. I'm still unclear on how to set up zones on the first floor of our home. Can anyone help?**
A: First you find a place for the base station. Follow the directions exactly. Next install the app. Then you have the S6 vacuum the entire floor. It can not go up or down stairs. You can pause it while it is doing this to make sure it will do the entire floor. When it is done it will have a map of that floor. Now is when it gets difficult. Making your map into rooms is not a friendly matter. Even though I have some rooms, I usually use the zone feature. Our main floor is all hardwood flooring so it all gets mopped. Use the middle fan speed. It does a much better job. As far as mopping, the so called filters are a joke. They are what regulates water getting to the mop. They work once or twice then nothing. So I wet the mop cloth and turn it loose. Areas that get a lot of traffic and dirt need up to 3 cleanings before the mop comes back clean. So I pop off the mop attachment , use a weak soap water mixture and clean the cloth right on the attachment. Rinse it well, use the palm of my hand to push excess water off the mop cloth, then reattach it and hit clean. On areas that don't get that abuse, just dampen the mop cloth once in a while with a spray bottle. Works like a charm. Our floors have never looked so good. Our upstairs is all carpet. We haven't attempted that yet. Setting things up is the biggest drawback. Find YouTube videos rather than the manual. Even with its short comings we love our S6.

**Q: Does the S6 still have a problem with dark carpets that require white taping the fall sensors?**
A: no. Use the Roborock app.

### ⭐ Don’t make the mistake I did, Roborock is Garbage…
*by B***R on November 5, 2023*

Less than 10 months after purchasing a Roborock Q7 it is dead, completely. It fails to power on, won’t connect to the app, and is for all intents and purposes a paperweight. This happened after a ‘firmware update’, and this in my experience has been one of, but not nearly the worst of the experience with Roborock. Firmware updates all seem to cause massive problems for the vacuum, from deleting maps, removing features, and now outright bricking the vacuum. Once the device failed I did what any customer would do and contacted their support. When I tell you that Roborock has the worst, capital W, Worst support I have ever utilized, I absolutely mean it. Roborock support is only after hours, meaning if you are located inside the United States, you will only be able to meaningfully communicate with support at night. They have a 24x7 helpline where Tier 1 technicians provide basic, extremely limited support. In my case it was “Press the power button, does it turn on?” After that I was told the Tier 2 support would need to be involved. Tier 2 support is only via email, and expect at a minimum 24 hours between messages. Roborock confirmed that they do not have interest in allocating the resources to allow customers to communicate with Tier 2 support. They do not see the value in it. So I waited patiently for a response. The device is after all only 10 months old, certainly they would just ship a new one and refurbish mine that was bricked by a bad firmware update. Surprisingly that was not the case. The response I got back was that the device was Out of Warranty. 10 month old, a $500 vacuum, and it’s “Out Of Warranty”. I was told that if I chose to I could ship the device back to them at my own expense, and that sometime later it would be returned to me and that they would ‘attempt to repair it.’ The thing that interested me here is the length of the warranty. I was confused and messaged back, assuming they had made a mistake. Obviously the device was under warranty, it was just 10 months old. I confirmed the serial number and again, waited 24 hours for a reply. It almost began to feel like a NASA mission, where I was waiting for some communication delay between me and a set of engineers on another planet. I am an engineer, and I have some experience with warranties, so I went to look how long the warranty was on Roborock Products. The warranty, it turns out, is 30 days. Roborock only guarantees that their products will continue to function for 30 days after purchase. Past that date repairs are only carried out at the end users cost. Generally a warranty time is set where you calculate the MTTF, mean time to failure of the components, and you design the warranty to be long enough to cover basic failures, but not so long as to include the failures of consumable products. Given this knowledge it’s safe to assume that Roborock does not expect their devices to last more than 30 days. The design is intentional, and these aren’t ’out of band failures’. Roborock is, and I confirmed with support, aware of the fact that their devices all will fail within a year, and the expectation is that the customer can, if they choose, continue to pay for subsequent repairs, regardless of whether or not this failure was caused by misuse, failure of components, or by receiving a bad firmware update. All of that in mind, the actual functionality of the vacuum is also extremely limited. We ran our vacuum on a nightly schedule for 10 months and rarely was there a night where it actually completed the schedule without getting lost, stuck, or failing in some way. Low lying furniture seemed to provide an especially difficult challenge, as the vacuum would constantly climb onto the furniture legs and then become stuck. The solution ended up being placing ‘no go’ zones around everywhere that the device would get stuck, and after about 7 months of tweaking the map, we were able to get it to successfully complete a single run. Of course roughly 40% of the map had been blocked off and in subsequent runs we found that the Roborock frequently got ‘lost’ and wandered into No Go zones, only to then freeze and require us to move it manually out of the zone. It was a little like having a toddler vacuum for you, some part of the floor got cleaned, but overall it was more work to use the Roborock than it was to just vacuum it ourselves. Even when it did vacuum we found that it did at best a mediocre job, often leaving debris behind, and that the ‘mopping’ function left our floors streaky and resulted in a wet and smelly mop being dragged over our carpets when it transitioned between floor types. There is no function to tell it to vacuum carpets first and then mop floors, in fact it randomly moves between floors and carpets in a way that seems designed to ensure as much of the carpet as possible gets wet. The Lidar function is all but useless and in watching the vacuum operate I watched it constantly bounce and knock into things, seeming to have no idea where it actually was at any given time. It functioned roughly as well as a cheap robot vacuum without any lidar or advanced mapping features. Finally, and this I only learned recently. Roborock is entirely located in China. I include this because for a lot of people there are serious concerns with services and hardware that communicate back with Chinese servers, largely because the Chinese government openly identifies that it has the ability to take possession of any data on any server that belongs to any Chinese company, which is why you have seen services like TikTok be blocked and why the Government has banned Huawei. Understand that if you have a Roborock vacuum that any data it collects becomes property of the Chinese government, including mapping data and anything the sensors detect in your home. This may or not be a big deal to people, but I feel it’s worth mentioning since Roborock does a good job of obfuscating this point. Overall I would say that the 500$ Roborock performs no better than a 99$ Eufy vacuum I have upstairs. The LiDAR doesn’t seem to function at all, it seems to have no ability to avoid furniture or to keep itself from becoming trapped or lost. Even when it does vacuum it does a mediocre job and generally leaves the carpets dirty and wet, if you use the mopping function. I would highly suggest you avoid both this model and products from Roborock. It’s clear from my interactions with support that Roborock has no faith in their products, they consider them to be disposable and provide only at cost repairs after purchase.
