Review: Very fresh hay!! - Wow! This is my first time buying from this brand, Small Pet Select. That being said, I am very pleased!! So much hay for a great price, especially when you compare prices to other companies that sell the same amount of hay. THIS hay is fresh, green, soft, and smells lovely. My boy loves it and didn’t ignore it for a second upon giving it to him within his enclosure! He also loves how there isn’t too many stalks in this product, unlike the other brand I was constantly buying from before… this hay is “grassier” and thus my pet is more eager to eat this. Thank you so much! Review: Our To-Go Timothy Hay for the Bun-Bun - We are hoomans to a very picky bun, no doubt due to his background prior to being rescued by the local SPCA (a 4H hoarding case where he had no access to space, crammed into a wire cage with other rabbits, and dirty hay). We tried all types of Timothy Hay, even Oxbow, but it wasn't fresh and Bun-Bun wasn't going to be tricked. Nope, none of that. Fast forward to Small Pet Select: we found them online after conducting research and went with the 2nd cutting Timothy Hay. When it arrived, we were pleased to see that it was still green, fresh, and didn't have a lot of dust. Sometimes with the other brands, the leaves are almost powdered. Not in this case, Bun-Bun was busy jumping into the box just to get at the Timothy Hay. Score! We have never had any issues with our orders, love this company that not only partners with local farmers, but also ensures their product is fresh, clean, and picked/stored right to support the ongoing diets of our furry friends. Great value for the money, excellent Timothy Hay that is fresh and crunchy, delivery through desertcart is quick and rated 10 stars by Bun-Bun! Thank you for being there for us! ## Features - Premium Quality at a Great Value – No unnecessary frills, just high-quality Timothy hay at an affordable price, ensuring your small pet has an unlimited supply of fresh hay. - Hand-Packed for Freshness – Every box is carefully hand-packed to maintain the integrity of the hay, providing your pet with the best possible quality. - Essential for Digestive Health – Rich in fiber, this natural hay supports a healthy gut and promotes proper digestion for guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, bunnies, and chinchillas. - Supports Dental Health – Chewing on long-strand hay helps prevent overgrown teeth, keeping your pet’s dental health in check for a happier, healthier life. - Grown and Harvested in the USA – Sourced from the best fields along the West Coast, our hay is carefully selected and inspected to ensure freshness and superior quality. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0B69T8XGK | | Additional Features | Hand-packed for freshness, Eco-friendly packaging, Carefully sourced from West Coast farms | | Age Range (Description) | All Life Stages | | Age Range Description | All Life Stages | | Allergen Information | Dairy Free | | Animal Food Diet Type | Plant-Based | | Best Sellers Rank | #8,132 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #67 in Small Animal Food | | Brand | Small Pet Select | | Brand Name | Small Pet Select | | Breed Recommendation | All Breed Sizes | | Container Type | Bag | | Customer Reviews | 4.2 out of 5 stars 1,339 Reviews | | Dog Breed Size | Small | | Flavor | Timothy Hay | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00850018255882 | | Item Form | Flake | | Item Type Name | CHOICEHAY | | Item Weight | 8 pounds | | Manufacturer | Small Pet Select | | Manufacturer Part Number | CHOICEHAY | | Model Number | CHOICEHAY | | Number of Items | 1 | | Occasion | Birthday | | Pet Type | Small Animal | | Product Benefits | Supports digestive & dental health, eco-friendly packaging | | Recommended Uses For Product | pet_digestive_health, pet_dental_health, fiber_source | | Specific Uses For Product | Sensitive Stomach | | Target Species | Hamster | | UPC | 850018255882 | | Unit Count | 128 Ounce | ## Product Details - **Age Range (Description):** All Life Stages - **Brand:** Small Pet Select - **Flavor:** Timothy Hay - **Item Form:** Flake - **Specific Uses For Product:** Sensitive Stomach ## Images ![Small Pet Select Value Choice Timothy Hay, Rabbits & Guinea Pigs, 8 lb - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81ANo8gdz7L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: There’s multiple points where this item says it’s 8lbs, however it also says it’s 96 oz (6lbs). Am I paying for 6 or 8?** A: Before seeing your question, I felt my box was so light that I measured it. I expected 8 pounds, but only received 6 pounds. **Q: What cutting is this?** A: I believe it’s second cutting. It’s crispy and my rabbits love it! I used to feed them Oxbow and since I’ve switched to this, they eat significantly more hay. **Q: What's the difference between this Value hay and your regular offering? Ive bought your regular box and it sounds same** A: I didn't find much of a difference at all. The main difference is the price per pound on the value hay is a dollar less that the premium. Both are very comparable as far as quality. **Q: Do you farms use herbicides or other chemicals containing aminopyralid?** A: Most farmers do not use pesticides or herbicides on hay because these chemicals are costly in comparison to what farmers are paid for hay harvests. These chemicals are generally reserved for fruits, vegetables, and grains - more expensive crops generally reserved for human consumption. Whether Small Pet Select purchases any hays treated with this chemical is highly unlikely, but I cannot say for 100% certain. They do have an organic hay guaranteed to be 100% natural if you have concerns regarding any chemical contamination. I have been feeding my rabbits SPS hay for some time and they are healthy and thriving. Their hay consumption greatly increased with the introduction of this hay. It has long crisp strands and is absolutely the highest quality hay I have found. I’d recommend this hay to anyone raising small herbivores such as rabbits or Guinea pigs. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very fresh hay!! *by T***Y on March 17, 2026* Wow! Well, I thought I’d give SPS value timothy a try. You can get 8lbs for less than $15 (at the time I bought it). It is the first cutting of hay and probably a little “stickier”, but some bunnies prefer it while some like the softer hays. For the price, you get alot of hay! I wasn’t expecting the box to be as large as it was and I’m not complaining. I also like the quality of the boxes SPS uses. I have turned some into makeshift hay feeders for the newest additions to the bun family while using many of the boxes to store things! Jack did eat a few pieces of it, but I’m not going deny that I did put some treats in there for him to fish out! 😇 Overall this seems to a hit for the bunnies. I mix it with the softer hay, so they have a variety. I also want to note that it wasn’t dusty. From being a horse person, many times you do end up with some dust in the hay. However in this box, I didn’t feel that I had to shake it outside before feeding it to them. And that’s how the horses were fed as well by shaking the hay really good to get as much of the dust out. However, it doesn’t hurt to do that to ensure the something foreign wasn’t accidentally wrapped up in the bale. ## Frequently Bought Together - Small Pet Select - Value Choice Timothy Hay, 8 Pound (Pack of 1) - Kaytee Alfalfa Cubes for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, and Other Small Animals, 15 oz - Kaytee Food from The Wild Natural Snack for Pet Rabbits, Guinea Pigs And Other Small Animals, 1 Ounce --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.br/products/452275895-small-pet-select-value-choice-timothy-hay-rabbits-and-guinea](https://www.desertcart.com.br/products/452275895-small-pet-select-value-choice-timothy-hay-rabbits-and-guinea) --- *Product available on Desertcart Brazil* *Store origin: BR* *Last updated: 2026-10-24*
