Then, using the little metal loop tool that comes with these connectors, you have to carefully lift the metal tabs on the connector so that you will be able to insert the cut end of your scrap strip under those metal tabs. If you look at the Customer Images, there is one that shows the instructions that come with the product (a small piece of paper with pictures). Lifting the metal tabs is step 2 and 3. However, to get the cut end of the scrap strip to fit into the connector, you have to remove the casing on the strip from around the area that is going into the connector. It will still be a tight fit, but that means the strip won't move around in the connector once you close it and the electrical connections will not flicker. To close the connector you will need to use pliers to squeeze it shut enough for it to latch and stay shut. You can then plug the other end of the connector with the pins into the (non-cut) end of another strip. **Q: can the pins be removed from the pin side to make it a female so that these can be a cut end to female or cut end to male ?** A: Yes, the pins can be removed from the non-snap end.
