It has some useful functions like stringing multiple calculations together (i.e. AxB+C) and facilitating calculation of a long string of numbers that need to be added/subtracted, etc. large, easy to read digits. Large raised keys are easy to press and are far enough apart so it is unlikely I will inadvertently press two at a time. While it does have some photocells, I think you would need a bright area to actually get enough power to operate the calculator. I keep my office lights less bright so they don't interfere with my computer monitor.
