It's small. The little colored pieces can click apart and back together. It's covered with a soft sort of material. **Q: Is this appropriate for a 2.5 yr old?** A: NO! They do pull apart with some force and a resourceful 2.5 year old could have pieces small enough to swallow. **Q: Does the fuzzy wear off? If so, if it regularly how long would it take for bald spots to appear?** A: It can wear off, especially if your child (or you) wants to pick at the fuzzy. Just naturally playing with it, I don't think bald spots are going to occur for quite some time. The plastic pieces that connect are more likely to break off before that happens.
