The threads on the end connectors are a standard size. The Gardena are the best to buy even if they cost a little more than other options. The quick disconnect is flawless compared to others I have tried. **Q: Is this for connecting to faucet or connecting hose end to either sprinkler or another hose?** A: You can use these on a faucet, sprinkler, watering wand or to couple two hoses. Anywhere you want to disconnect with out screwing the fittings off. Great for arthritic hands. Just pull the collar up and your done. **Q: why do you suppose the metal Gardena quick connect set has a 1year warranty and the plastic set has a lifetime warranty???** A: It's probably for the lifetime of the parts - some of mine broke after a few months! Seriously, the plastic versions of the male connectors tend to break at their narrowest point. Highly recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great value vs. buying individually! *by W***R on 11 April 2015* This kit is a great value vs. buying the connectors individually, even if you only buy it to get the two metal connectors for each end of your garden hose. For what I paid for the entire kit (at present prices), I could only get one of the metal connectors by itself, but here you get both, plus some of the plastic adapters as well. You could easily spend double the money to assemble the entire kit from individual components, so bottom line, this is a fantastic value. In terms of fit and finish, what more can you say but top notch German quality? The entire set is made in Germany (stated on the package) and it shows. Connectors have good heft and do not feel, look or function like the imported garbage, they are the real deal. Puts the box store brass stuff to shame, looks better and works better as well. You can't go wrong with Gardena's premium metal connectors. They are rock solid and will likely be the last ones you ever buy. I will never go back to cheap, big-box garbage connectors after using these, not even their brass versions. These are a cut above and this set is worth every penny. If you're a heavy user or live in an environment where the plastic connectors aren't viable, say in the desert regions of the US, you can purchase metal versions of the plastic parts in this kit from Gardena (and here on Amazon) for a full metal connector system. In my case, it was totally worth it and I wouldn't go back to plastic. Quick disconnect systems for garden hoses are one of those items where you often get what you pay for, and in the case of Gardena, quality is worth the premium. Cry once, buy the best and have no regrets. If you really want to save some money, buy this kit to get five pieces for a little more than the price of one metal connector.
