They sent a new one out right away! Start your claim here: http://www2.fiskars.com/Customer-Service/Warranty-Claim-Form **Q: Is this a good axe to fell medium to larger diameter trees?** A: It is NOT an axe but a wood splitting maul( blockbuster in Aussie speech). To fell a tree you would be much better off with a chainsaw. A purpose built felling axe such as a Plumb, Kelly, Gilpin, Gransfors is the alternative but you would need to be very skilled and fit to use one No doubt Fiskars would manufacture good felling axes but the Iso Core is not suitable for felling. **Q: How does it compare to the popular fiskar x27?** A: It's a different altogether. I own both and the maul is a heavy beast! I like that that 8 lb maul's Iso Core handle absorbs vibration much better than the X27mif the wood you are trying to split is tough like twisted elm and you need repeated strikes. The X27 is a shorter and it is a much lighter axe(not a maul) to swing making it great for splitting straight grained wood. The 8 lb maul is great for splitting large rounds it is my favorite maul for heavy splitting. **Q: 36 inches is very short, is it not?** A: No. Swinging a metal and fiberglass yard-stick is not as easy as you would think. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent *by on Reviewed in the United Arab Emirates 12 July 2023* Excellent, but a little heavy ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not light weight *by on Reviewed in South Africa 5 April 2026* Heavier than I thought but solid item ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Isocore is the way *by on Reviewed in Australia 29 October 2025* If you need a hatchet of any kind, this is the one. It doubles as an amazing hammer with great surface area, and of course is a great hatchet for kindling and even some small logs. ## Frequently Bought Together - Fiskars Pro IsoCore Maul - 2.5-Pound Wood Splitter for Small Size Logs and Kindling with Shock-Absorbing Handle - Black/Orange - Fiskars 12" Hookaroon - Non-Slip Grip Handle with Pointed, Angled Blade - Landscaping Tool for Rotating, Dragging, Stacking Logs - Black/Orange - Fiskars X27 Super Splitting Axe - 36" Wood Splitting Axe for Medium to Large Size Logs with Shock-Absorbing Handle - Split Firewood - Forged Steel Blade - Bushcraft Gear and Camping Axe --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.br/products/329331200-pro-isocore-maul-2-5-pound-wood-splitter-for-small](https://www.desertcart.com.br/products/329331200-pro-isocore-maul-2-5-pound-wood-splitter-for-small) --- *Product available on Desertcart Brazil* *Store origin: BR* *Last updated: 2026-10-06*
