There are holes in the tube that they go in that line up with a part of the plastic piece designed to fit in them. If you put the plastic inserts in the wrong direction then they will either not fit over top when you try to slide them over this piece, or if you do get them over they will be too tight and have a slightly "sticky" feeling when pulling up-and-down. The included garage door lube it came with helps make it a smooth ride as well. Either way, it's important to keep it all lubricated. It came with one wrong bolt too so I had to use an old one from a car shock absorber. If it wasn't for the annoying directions and wrong part I would give this a 5. This really transformed my basement workouts. One of my best fitness purchases ever. ***Original Review*** So far so good... Been using for about 2 weeks. Solid build in a mostly compact package. For those saying assembly instructions lack--body solid must have fixed that issue. Pretty explicit instructions included with mine. I had no issues assembling my crossover machine. I have the plastic guides installed in mine and the weight carriages have no issues moving freely. The were a little sticky at first, but the lube fixed that with no issue. Glides like a commercial unit now. Max weight I've had on one side so far is 300lbs and didn't seem to have any issue. I would suggest using clips for exercises that take you away from the centerline of the machine (i.e. Lower/upper chest crossover). I've found this makes the weights "rattle" a bit and they can slide off the posts. No issue once I out clips on. Weight ratio is essentially 1:2. If you properly evaluate this pulley system, the math tells you so. It's not 1:1 or 1:3 like some people have said. So essentially for every pound you load on there you're getting .5lbs of tension requirement. Includes handles are a little goofy. They work just fine but I'm used to the compact D-handle style so I purchased additional handles. Also added on the straight bicep bar, triceps v-bar and tricep rope. Then added close grip pulldown handles and wide lat bar. All have been useful with this machine (depending on weight-rep ratio of your workout...it's tough to go heavy on lat pulldowns as you don't have anything to hold your legs down). I did a ton of research and mulled this decision over for two weeks before purchasing...but I'm glad I did. All the workouts I was trying to accomplish at home using bands are now being executed in an almost commerial-gym-type manner. Its worth the money and worth the 1 hour of assembly time.
