Not for those under 3 or so, as they could break both off. **Q: Does the back emergency door open?** A: No it doesn't, also my kids broke the fast, the entire bottom of the bus came off, wheels , inside seats and all and was not fixable, cheaply made. I don't recommend purchasing **Q: Does the door open?** A: yes the door did open. but it also fell off not to far after I purchased it for my 2 year old grandson. It is really not made to last and hold up to childs play. It's front door and back door can both be open and shut. The stop sign can rotate 180 degree which is a thoughtful design. Previously we thought it could only rotate 90 degree and our baby could break it if he pushed hard. Then when we had it we were happy about this design. We are also happy that the front door is metal and very solid. We own two similar school buses with plastic doors bought from a store. The door of the first one was broken within one week and the second was broken again just after several pushes.
