## Overview

The Tamiya 1/35 M2A2 Desert Storm IFV model kit is a highly detailed scale replica of the iconic U.S. Infantry Fighting Vehicle used in Gulf and Iraq Wars. ## Description

Production of the M2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles began in 1980. Based on operations in the Gulf War in 1991, a further improved M2A2 ODS (Operation Desert Storm) was later developed in 1996. The M2A2 ODS featured the latest in electronics, including a laser range finder, missile countermeasure device, GPS and digital compass antenna sensor. After friendly fire incidents in the Gulf War, a CIP (Combat Identification Panel) was developed and attached to the sides and the rear of the M2A2 ODS. In March 2003, M2A2 ODS units attached to the 3rd Armored Infantry Division were at the front line in the Iraq War. About the Model * Overall length: 193mm * Laser range finder, GPS antenna, rear sensors and box exhaust have been accurately replicated. * Comes with option of two 25mm cannons. * Tracks with highly durable pads. * CIP attached on both sides and the rear. * Plenty of extra attachments including personnel equipment such as alice packs and sleeping bag. * Body armor wearing commander and gunner half-figures included. * Decals for 3 different vehicles deployed to Iraq and 3 different vehicles deployed on NATO operations.

Review: Perfection - This was a superb model to make - the fit, engineering and level of detail were perfect. There was nothing dificult or too fidley and it was a very rewarding model to make. Some people don't like the rubber band tracks but I think that it's ok when, like this model, the sag of the tracks are hidden by the armoured skirts. The only problem I had was applying the decals - there are some very highly raised surfaces that made applying the decals difficult. Although I made use of decal softner, with hindsight I would have made some cuts in them before soaking to try and help negotiate the lumps and bumps

**Q: What kind of tracks does it have, one piee vinyl?**
A: It is a one piece rubber track that you do have to glue the two ends together to make it one solid track. I use the iModeler cement. works wonderful.

**Q: Is this a model kit you have to put together?**
A: Yes,it’s fairly easy to put together.

**Q: Is the interior detailed?**
A: Some what. There are other versions that have more detail.

**Q: Does the back ramp or drivers door hatch open?**
A: You can have the back ramp open.
